Dream On dude... Triple K and TBH lost to elementary school student Ryan/Angga. And Garuda can send Simon on 1st single, Hendra/Ahsan, and Taufik on 2nd single. Garuda will fly high in the sky and reach the final with their brother(Rajawali)...

The 2012 Axiata Cup: Indonesian Shuttlers Are Aiming High

    .
I think INA Rajawali team manager, Yacob Rusdianto, said it all:

We want to play in the finals, hopefully against Garuda”.

Indonesian Shuttlers Aim High in the Axiata Cup
    March 29, 2012

An all-Indonesian final in the inaugural Axiata Cup is just a few wins away. But so is an all-Malaysian final.

Indonesia Garuda will host the Malaysia Tigers in the first leg of the men’s team championship home-and-away semifinals in Jakarta today, while Indonesia Rajawali will face off against Malaysia Leopard in Kuala Lumpur.

The Garuda-Tigers clash at the Sports Mall in Kelapa Gading will offer a mouthwatering match for badminton fans as the two teams features the top shuttlers in their respective countries.

Simon Santoso is likely to lead Garuda, while Lee Chong Wei, the world’s top-ranked player, is expected to take the court for Malaysia. Lee didn’t play in the early rounds because of a shoulder injury but is confident that he will be fit for the semifinals.

Garuda team manager Feriansyah is still confident. “All of our shuttlers are in good shape. We are optimistic about winning the match,” he said on Thursday.

If Lee plays, Feriansyah predicts a 2-1 win for Garuda in the home leg of the $1 million event.

Simon and Garuda’s other singles player, Taufik Hidayat, have struggled against Lee. Simon has beaten Lee just once in eight meetings, while Tauflik has a 6-12 record against the Malaysian.

Feriansyah said the team had yet to make a final decision on who would play in the first singles match if Lee steps onto the court.

Lee, who was injured during the All England Championships earlier this month, has given every indication he will be in action in the semifinals. Although not fully fit, Lee said he was ready to play – with his doctor’s approval.

“Right now I’m back to my normal routine in training and there is no pain in my shoulder,” Lee said on the tournament’s Web site. “There is a possibility that I might play on Friday because I need to help the team win.

“But I can’t say for certain that I’ll play because I do not want to force myself too much since this is an Olympic year.”

That’s why the doubles match results will be crucial. Indonesia’s top men’s doubles team of Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan said they were ready.

“I still don’t know whether it will be me and Markis or Bona [Septano] and [Mohammad] Ahsan who will play in the semifinal,” Hendra said. “However, we are ready to win. We are highly motivated to win.”

Markis and Hendra have a 3-6 record against the Tigers’ top pair of Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong, while Bona and Ahsan are 3-2 against the world’s former top tandem.

Meanwhile the Rajawali team is also aiming for victory, despite playing away from home in the first leg.

“We want to play in the finals, hopefully against Garuda,” said team manager Yacob Rusdianto.

The second leg of the semifinals will be played on Sunday (01-Apr-2012).

I don't know if you really watched the whole match. In the second set especially the third set, the msian duo always giving high ball and enable the elementary school student to smash. Event he commentator saying the same thing. I don't know why they always giving high ball just like what they did in the past. WTF with them! Seriously! Especially Triple K! I hope they fix that, if they have the intention to fix it, then they can win it easily.

This has become a habit for the pair...excellent in the first set, relax in the 2nd - keep on lifting and losing in the result. In the 3rd, lost the momentum and urge and losing.
