New Revised 2021 BWF Calendar

yeah, that's what I was alluding to hahahaa
but it's not a good intention to wishing a contingent to drop out of a tournament, so I didn't write it down

FRA & AUS have pulled out then host FIN & HAI replacing them in Sudirman Cup 2021.

That's what becoming a routine in Asia tours, cancellation at the end. How about November three consecutive top-tier tours? Current condition in Bali doesn't look promising, still three months ahead...

They may switch all year end tourneys to Europe where conditions will more likely be favourable for them to be held.

Forget about Asian tourneys until next year! Next year's Asian Games may even be cancelled if CHN is still not open to the world.

Which country? ESP, GER?
Finland, to stage one of BWF major events for the first time is a breakthrough for badminton.

As expected, no Asian tourneys will proceed and only European tourneys will continue to be held.
Perhaps Team CHN, JPN and others may want to withdraw the the Sudirman & Thomas/Uber Cups ?

Possible. Everything become less or meaningless.

I guess its more like the citizens arent in the mood to celebrate. Yes, a few days celebrations thats all then people will get back to their post covid life, difficult economy, etc. Safe to say people talk more about the restrictions here more than the GoldMedal glory here in INA, and probably everywhere else which is sad in itself.

I think withdrawal will depend on the quarantine rules when returning to home country.

Australia and China are really strict so definitely don’t expect these players playing any European tournaments this year.

The next tournament for Chinese players will be the All China games.

Japan is a +/-.

If there is an extended European trip, probably we will see other countries sending players. Personally, I think other Asian countries will be keen to get their development started for the 3 years it would take to Paris. Doubles is particularly important as new combinations take time to gel or may not even be successful in which case an early decision needs to be taken to change.

It will be a good chance for the European players to collect points and move up the world rankings

I'm sure China will have the Asian Games unless things go really south. You forget, they are to host the Beijing Winter Olympics in just 6 months time. I'm sure they will want to have that event.

Do you really think that China will let other countries take Sudirman Cup (and the other Cups) that easily though?

It’s not about that. It’s the Chinese health authority that will make a decision. China had an outbreak of delta variant covid and fired a load of people for mismanagement. Although we saw the athletes go to the Olympics, I doubt they will go to Europe this time.

Well let’s see for Bali legs. I can’t say too much now.. all are in cooking ... if it happens.. it will be a blast... most players are waiting for these legs.

Rumor says CBA has submitted their Sudirman Cup squad, this mixed team event offers best chance for CHN to defend the trophy, let alone Thomas Cup as they have no solid line-up players in men's category.

Badminton schedule for CHN National Games is 5-17 September so they have one week to prepare departure to Finland (with if of course).

HSBC-BWF World Tour will be extended one year more.

BWF and HSBC Extend for a Year
19 October, 2021
https://corporate.bwfbadminton.com/news-single/2021/10/19/bwf-and-hsbc-extend-for-a-year/

In the spirit of a fantastic first four years in partnership together, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and its Principal Global Partner and title sponsor of the BWF World Tour, HSBC, can confirm they have extended their current commercial relationship by one year.

This announcement aligns with the extension of the current HSBC BWF World Tour hosting cycle until the end of 2022. It also consolidates the reputation of the HSBC BWF World Tour as one of the world’s premiere sporting circuits in a forever changing climate.

The global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic meant it was necessary for the BWF to extend its hosting contracts by one extra year. BWF would like to thank HSBC for their continued commitment to the delivery of the HSBC BWF World Tour and global promotion of badminton.

The HSBC BWF World Tour 2021 season ends with a three-tournament Asian leg in Bali, Indonesia culminating with the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals from 1-5 December 2021.

Both BWF and HSBC will then look forward to a bumper 2022 season where together we aim to elevate the electric HSBC BWF World Tour to new levels as part of the extended partnership deal.

~ Just curious about "new levels" statement, it's still tough to imagine the tour will return in full swing next year...
