i think she is coming back in the singapore open super series, she is there in the entry list of sigapore open ss. though saina has also entered, i think she will withdraw before the tournament starts, she has played a lot of badminton lately. .three consecutive superseries tournaments can be tough on her body. hope she stays fit. .and hope a speedy recovery to sindhu, touchwood :)
sindhu is really lagging behind due to this injury lay off. .she really needs to improve her game leaps and bounds if she want's to have an upper hand against players like say marin, tty, ratchanok and the chinese trinity. hope she gets motivated by saina and sri's achievements and wins a super series title herself soon.

Oh ok.. She is top 10 player. Her ranking may reduce due to her long absence?

PVS's injury layoff is a huge blessing to her and to India's badminton. She had been playing non-stop since early 2013 and carried a niggle since Asian Games. Kept playing on to "conserve" points. Was chided by Padukone himself. Did the right thing by deciding to R&R.
Oldhand From KS forum, Infact PVS's game has been unidimensional, not KS's. KS has displayed the gumption to sit out earlier and work on his game; something Sindhu hardly got to do since early 2013 since she was travelling constantly. Sindhu Jan 13 and Jan 15 are exactly the same players, whereas earlier she was growing. Sindhu Dec 12 was different from Sindhu July 2012 or March 2011. Lets hope this break does set Sindhu back on track.

Hope she and other top Indians take a leaf out of CBA's book and restrict themselves to 8-12 tourneys rather than 15-18. Conventional wisdom says rankings will suffer.
But its better than carrying injuries. Kash's been injured for over a year now and Saina's been carrying a shoulder niggle since AE QF as well. Only Sri's fit and his results are there for all to see.
Prakash believes we will win more tourneys that way, which will take care of our rankings. And once you are amongst the top 16 Oly cut-off, rankings are immaterial if you possess the game to beat everyone in the planet.

Actually, rankings are very material.
Even more material is staying at the very top.

Every player dreams of playing in (and winning) the Olympics.
Every player also dreams of playing in the BWF World Super Series Finals.

And ranking is how you get in.

Which justifies my very point. Since the top 8 are guaranteed a spot at the WSSF; in essence the best player in the planet can stay in the top 8 (a la LD) and let the jokers play all the immaterial Mickey Mouse tourneys through the year like donkeys. He/Shey/They KNOW all they will need to decimate the #1 and the computer is SHOW UP and so do the computer number ones.

Has Sindhu recovered fully yet? Can't wait to see her in SOSS and cheer for her.

totally agree with you on this, i also think sindhu's game is uni-dimensional. .though her net play has shown tremendous improvement but she still tries to back off the net and keeps pushing shuttle at the back court. .she desperately needs to develop new shots and also her foot work is still not as good as it should be. .look at carolina marin, i think sindhu started of much much better than carolina initially but now carolina already has won world championships and premier ss. .sindhu will have to do lots and lots of hardwork if she want's to beat these players consistently.

PVS was head and shoulders above CM in 20911-12. CM started catching up in 2013. Someone needs to teach PVS how to use height to one's advantage. Shorter girls have more powerful smashes than her.
When she emerged, I thought here we go, India's answer to Yihan. But so far, she has flattered to decieve. Good thing is she is still 19. Lets hope the break was worthwhile. She had been the busiest Indian on the circuit since early 2013.

She is not in Madhu's academy. Madhu's just the travelling coach of the national team.

Probably.
Thulasi is our sole representative in WS. Time is ripe for the coaches to unleash Ruth and Ritu.

yeah. .i think they should be given more international exposure now, they can at least try for the qualifying rounds. .i also liked the game of rituparna das(don't remember the name correctly) who recently played against saina, these youngsters needs more exposure. .the irony is, india has a whole host of men's singles and women's singles players who are ready to share the burden but doubles field still looks bleak.

Sindhu has withdrawn? Oh no!
Now there is no one to watch. Honestly, no offense to her, but Thulsi has not yet impressed.

Are Rituparna or Ruthvika participating as qualifiers? Can they? What are their international rankings?

edit:Well, it seems at least Srikanth has not withdrawn. So there is something to watch.
But how many tournaments can Srikanth handle?

Not in the qualies. They aren't among the top 5 in the "rankings". But quality wise they are easily 3 and 4.
