What the hell do you mean by “In Paris they honestly didn’t”. Won all 4 group matches and came out of the toughest group possible and beat WR 1 Chinese to win OG gold. I don’t know man, some of the comments here are totally logicless and coming out of pure frustration I guess.

Meanwhile...Carolina Marin cheered immensely during the last few points after her opponent got the exact same injury in 2016 OG. And then proceeds to accuse her opponent of faking the injury. And that's AFTER her opponent gave her the courtesy of finishing the match by playing the last few points in pain, DESPITE risking furthering her own injury.

But yes, go ahead and continue to defend her. Only your idol CM is free to cheer over injured players. Anyone else cheering, it's "crap".

Absolutely I agree - however if you think outside the box - Lee and Wang haven't been consistent since Tokyo - far from it tbh.

Liang / Wang have been consistent in comparison.

(Getting this in before someone inevitably says something - I 100% understand that the Olympic title doesn't just reward consistency, but moreso who is the best in the tournament. Lee and Wang although the best in the tournament, haven't been the best in the world as of late. If you don't understand that (like another poster who I won't quote as I'm not going to waste my time on them due to demeanour and context), then your knowledge is severely limited and perhaps you should follow the game more)).

Long story short - I'm glad the TPE pair won and thrived on the pressure / expectations of being defending champions.

I also like Liang / Wang and hope they do well in the next Olympics if they're there.

Didn't watch but congrats to Lee/Wang! Two consecutive OLY gold medals as an unseeded pair is just incredible!

When people compare Djokovic,Nadal,Federer they usually show of all the titles with the 9 masters total of 15 tournaments + year end WR1s that they won so its not just Olympics.

I can see the one has got offended and lost his mind while writing another post. LeeWang peaked again at the right time, it won’t matter what they have done in the last 3 years. If that was the case then Minions would have had any medal or should have had gold medal in OG. I said this before MD started in OG 2024 “It’d be funny to see LeeWang be double OG gold medallists. 3 years nothing and you come back again, surprising everyone for that coveted title”. Huge thumbs up.

Not enough financial incentive to keep playing could be a major factor

I read this today, and I think it is a good perspective on this whole Marin situation:

We should respect Marin the athlete, she is one of the best out there, and no doubt she trains hard, play hard, and mentally strong. And for that, we feel sorry for Marin the athlete.

Marin as the person however, not so much respect if at all. Horrible attitude, terrible demeaner, no sportsmanship, show no respect to her opponent. And for that, karma is a bitch.

But Wang CL is not retiring so idk. As olympic champions, their compensation cant be lacking im sure. I also dint hear of any injury so its pretty surprising.

Partnerships can split and go in different directions.
