    Think I haven't done MD. Let's have a go.

    Men's Doubles
Partnership of the Year: Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng (Consistent performances, one WC and 2 SS titles.)
Mismatch of the Year: Guo Zhendong/Xu Chen (but they did quite well, actually. WC SF and AG team heroes)
Resurgent Partners of the Year: Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan (Everyone thought they were dead... then... BOOM! AG Gold!)
Defective Partnership of the Year: Fuzzy aka Mohd Fairuzizuan/Mohd Zakry
Shooting Stars of the Year: Ko Sung Hyun/Yoo Yeon Seong (2 SS titles and emerged as top stars)
Saddest Story of the Year: Can't think of any... I would say Lars Paaske but he won AE...but I'll stick to Lars Paaske.
Coolest Partners of the Year: Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong

    The results are in!!!

FINALLY, THE RESULTS ARE IN!! 2010 threw up some very memorable names, but the one name that is sadly very conspicuous by its absence, is Peter Gade. I wold like to vote him for a Lifetime Achievement Award, which he deserves so much! And he is still going strong...:D

I have posted below, separate posts for the 5 divisions: MS, WS, MD, WD, XD.
You are welcome to send in your comments on the results! Have a great day. :):):)

People's Choice Awards --- Mens Singles

The Men's Singles category did not throw up any surprises, really!

The Player of the Year was Lee Chong Wei, by a huge margin, and this is well deserved. The only other candidate was LD.

Goofball of the Year was Kenichi Tago also by a very big margin! Someone tell him he is very loved by BC members for many, many memorable moments on live TV!!!;):D

Resurgent Player of the Year by almost unanimous vote, was none other than Taufik Hidayat. He surprised many people, and gave joy and pleasure once again to so many! Lets hope he continues to do so for many more years, along with Peter Gade. :):):)

Defective Cyborg of the Year was a hands-down, 100% unanimous vote: Chen Jin! Let's hope he makes adjustments to his mechanism and presents us with CJ V2.0 in 2011... ;):D

Shooting Star of the Year had 3 candidates, but Chen Long easily went ahead of the others, in the end. His improvement and maturity was very noticable especially at the end of the year. Maybe in a couple of years, he will be Player of the Year!:)

Saddest Story of the Year had one player being chosen more than any other: Sony Dwi Koncoro. We wish him and his family the best with all our hearts, and hope they have gotten over their loss, and find serenity.

Most Handsome Player of the Year. Boonsak has many admirers. Unfortunately for him, twinkle-toes has more! And so the award goes to Lin Dan! ;):D

Most Popular Player of the Year: The Superman; the Showman; the Man with no Shirt;):D; the incomparable Lin Dan is uncontested winner, with the most votes in ANY category!!!!

    People's Choice Awards -- Women's Singles

The Womens Singles threw up a mixed bag, with some surprises. You be the judge.

Player of the Year, from a bunch of 5 players that were voted for, was Wang Xin. A fiery, never-say-die contestant who worked tirelessly to deserve this award for this year!:)

Goofball of the Year by almost unanimous decision, was Firdasari. She needs to get her act together, and pay more attention when she is on court! :D

Resurgent Player of the Year was not much of a surprise. She swept the other contestants aside in this category, and Wang Lin fully deserves this award for her fantastic showing at the WC2010.

Defective Cyborg of the Year is sadly unanimous, and Wang YiHan will be hoping she does not figure in this category next year! We hope so, too... ;):D

Shooting Star of the Year was probably the most exciting phenomenon to be witnessed by us this year, and Ratchanok Inthanon did not disappoint; a brilliant young girl, with great promise! If she continues improving like she has, she will definitely be Player of the Year in a very few years. :):)

Saddest Story of the Year had a few girls on the list, but the story of Zhou Mi touched most people. Very unfortunate for this to happen to a great and extremely skilful lady.

Most Beautiful Player of the Year: Opinions were so very divided, but a late surge saw one player push everyone else out of the frame. Wang Lin has more admirers that she knows!! Keep smiling that beautiful smile, Lin!!:):):)

Most Popular Player of the Year also had a few candidates, but one that edged out the others comfortably in the end, provided followers of the game with so many edge-of-the-seat moments, great fights and memorable matches, often against the odds. Saina Nehwal is very deserving of this award!:):):)

People's Choice Awards -- Mens Doubles

The Mens Doubles was pretty straightforward; no real surprises, but maybe a couple of disappointments. Surprisingly the Boe/Mogensen partnership didn't find much support or appreciation. Otherwise there were definite favourites in each category.

Partnership of the Year went to the Chinese top-dog pair of Cai Yun and Fu HuaiFeng for their consistency for the better part of the year.

Mismatch of the Year was easily taken by GZD/XC. Wonder why?... ;)

Resurgent Partners of the Year: another favourite pair from the country of the Garuda. Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan set hearts beating fast on many finals with their on again, off again play, but some spark between them got them over the line in many of these finals. Great games!! :D:D

Defective Partnership of the Year: The duo of Robertson/Clark and Fuzzy/Zakry tied for this dubious honour.

Shooting Stars of the Year: KSH and YYS easily took this title for their brilliance, and for displaying their abilities. Hopefully we will see much more of them.

Saddest Story of the Year: None!! That is good news for the state of Mens Doubles!! :D

Coolest Partners of the Year: Yes, who else could it be??!! I think there would be riots throughout Asia if LYD/JJS were not given this honour!! :D:D

People's Choice Awards -- Womens Doubles

There were some sentimental moments in the Womens Doubles this year, and overall, a much wider and more competitive field. The Chinese still kept a very tight control at the top, but they may find it much more difficult next year.

Partnership of the Year went with just a little resistance, to WXL/YY. WXL in particular was a favourite overall.

Mismatch of the Year: The undisputed winners were CWC/CYC. Back to the drawing board!!

Resurgent Partners of the Year saw a 4-way tie between 4 pairs from diverse countries. But no winner. :(:crying:

Defective Partnership of the Year went to the now famous duo of Cheng & Chien. :p

Shooting Stars of the Year: Again, a 3-way tie, no winner. But this is good news, it means lots of good new partnerships are forming. ;):D

Saddest Story of the Year: There were 3 pairs, but Ma/Jin combined to get more votes thatn anyone else in this category.:eek:

Coolest Partners of the Year: Again, a 3-way tie, and no clear-cut winner. But on the basis of their being voted in so many other categories as well, I might give the edge to WXL/YY here!:D

Peoples Choice Awards -- Mixed Doubles

And on to the most fun class, the XD!!

Partnership of the Year was almost unanimous; ZN/ZYL proved too good for the rest. :D

Mismatch of the Year was (surprisingly) a 3-way tie! So many mismatches! We need a full-time counsellor for these players! ;):D:D

Resurgent Partners of the Year was an uncontested, sweeping win for Joachim and Christina!:p Will they be Players of the Year next year??

Defective Partnership of the Year was swept by HHB/MJ. Time to call it off?

Shooting Stars of the Year: No it wasn't Tomtowi and Lilyana, but TJM/TQ swept everyone else aside. We will be seeing a lot more of them on the podium in the future!!:D

Saddest Story of the Year: ZB/MJ broke more than a few hearts. :crying:

Coolest partners of the Year: Again, a 3-way tie!!! That's 3 times as cool!!:D:D:p

Thanks for running this, it's been good fun :D. A good read and nice to see what people have thought of last year's badminton.

interesting. it looks like that we all believe Zhou Mi is innocent and was careless/misinformed. i've to hold my hand up that i'm one of those that believe her.

but, are any of us think may be a possibility that she was indeed tried to cheat the system?

Mismatch/Defective can be combined into one in the following edition, and we also can have categories like Lifetime achievement, which does not only limit itself to each disciple, but from any player in the badminton world :D

When it comes to "passing judgement" on these kind of things, I generally feel that it's unfair in every way unless one is fully aware of all the circumstances. There are mostly always 2 sides of the story in these situations, and unless you've been there throughout as an observer, it's really difficult to say what the "truth" is... sadly... :)

Good suggestion! :D I am thinking of a new thread for discussing the Lifetime Achievement Awards. There are many ideas and issues to be sorted out before one can set the criteria for candidacy. But I will look forward to all your opinions and suggestions, objections and demands! :D

Well... what can I say? ;):) The results I got were from the responses I received from the BC members... :):D

It also appears that player of the year is common for both mens and womens, on the Badzine site. Interesting....
