Allow me to share the article below. It was written by 1966 AE champion Tan Aik Huang. Badminton fans should find it interesting. It is obvious that Mr.Tan Aik Huang and his Malaysian cohorts were self-trained and self-financed players. To make things more difficult they either had their jobs or studies to attend to. Tan Aik Huang, P Gunalan and the Oon brothers, Chong Teik, Chong Jin and Chong Hau were all university students. So was Dr Li Kin Tat a Malayan turned Singaporean. How much time did they have for training?
Yet they could challenge the best in the world at that time.
