Does LYB have any credibility left? He lost some if not all of it right after the Uber cup final in 2010. I still remember how he thrash talked and pretended like they have won the Uber cup before the matches even started!

oh no worry. The more credibility he loose, the more disposable he is. ;)

naaaah ... in badminton, you dont lose your credibility from one loss.. even if its a team loss like the uber cup.... I think LYB still has his credibility intact... he just had a serving of korean humble pie thats all....

    3 WC titles or bust..

..in a way, by LYB thrash talking or predicting or pretended they have won something or declaring CHN will win 3 out of 5 titles in this yr's WC, he's somewhat putting pressure on his players, esp. the women events' players, to go out there and actually win..

With the pool of talents they have, the players are always under pressure with or without Li Yong Bo's thrash talking. It's either you win or you quit, such is the life of a badminton player in China.

However, he could have say things differently(call it tactfully if you insist) while keeping his original message intact.

..on the other hand, i'm wondering whether the KOR women players are a bit anxious in their upcoming WC performance after their surprising win over the CHN Uber Cup team in this yr's UC Final..

I would say that the KOR womens players should be a bit more confident in this upcoming 2010 WC tournament.

Peerless Super Dan will win worlds if he wants: Coach Read more: Peerless Super Dan

For those who doubt my previous translation...here's some official translation from the Times of India. Just got to love the way how Li Yong Bo talk:D:D:p. Guys, you hear him. Nothing is a threat to Lin Dan, nothing!

    *********************************************************************************************
    REUTERS, Aug 16, 2010, 01.34pm IST

BEIJING: The only thing standing between Olympic champion Lin Dan and winning the world title later this month is himself, according to China's head coach Li Yongbo.

The 26-year-old, already one of the most successful badminton players ever, will be gunning for a fourth straight men's singles title at the Aug. 23-29 championships in Paris.

The often outspoken Li believes Lin is currently peerless in the men's game and more than capable of setting what would be a new standard in the sport.

"Lin can definitely win whatever title he wants," Li said.

"It's all about how much he wants it... As for this worlds, I think he is hoping to write history, set his own record that will be difficult for anybody to surpass.

"I believe he will give his best. He is now mature enough, compared to a few years ago. I think he will cherish the remaining years of his sporting career."

Having slipped to world number three by playing in the Chinese league in preference to some international ranking tournaments, Lin faces a tough draw in Paris.

World number one Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is in the same half, as is Indonesia's 2004 Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat.

If Lin manages to battle his way through to the final, he could face Denmark's world number two Peter Gade or younger compatriot Chen Jin.

"Lin is a player who deserves a lot of appreciation," Li added. "His diligence, talent, desire for honour and will to improve himself are priceless."

"At present, Lin's only rival is himself. Gade, Taufik, Lee Chong Wei are not a threat to him. They are just his opponents, not his rivals."

I don't know. I just found out that Lee KW/ Lee HJ are not playing in this WD. Only Ha JE/Kim MJ and Yoo/Jung are playing. They're youngsters and don't play with each other too often. Maybe Ha/Kim have a good chance among them...

If Lee HJ/Kim MJ competed together this tournament, I think they would've had a good chance since this year they only lost in singapore open finals, otherwise they won the championship in UC, IO, and TO. Too bad they're not competing together this year. :(

    - Just realized they withdrew. Hmm, so no other pair can replace their spot?..
    - Is this the only event which has a withdrawal at this stage of the tournament with only a few days left til the actual competition?..
    - Yes, the KOR WD youngsters will be put to the test. Looking at their draws, the KOR's women squad (WS & WD) could go back medal-less in this upcoming WC after their surprising victory in this yr's UC.

Winning Worlds Would Be ‘Fitting Gift’ Before Mixed Doubles Pair Breaks Up

    Ami Afriatni | August 19, 2010

With the end of their winning partnership in sight, Nova Widianto and Liliyana Natsir will make one last title bid at the World Badminton Championships in Paris.

The world No. 1 mixed doubles pair will team up again for next week’s tournament, their last chance to win a world championship together.

Nova announced earlier this year he would retire from the national team after the Asian Games in China this November. Preparing to play on without Nova for the first time in six seasons, Liliyana has teamed up with a new partner, Tontowi Ahmad, in her last two tournaments.

But Nova and Liliyana will join forces again in France for the Aug. 23-29 tournament, hoping to complete a hat-trick of titles in mixed doubles.
