I intend to travel to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur in December/January for 6 weeks to spend holidays and more importantly, improve my badminton skills. I look for intensive private training 5 times a week for 1 month. I think I would need to pay for the court, the coach and 1-2 training partners. Guys who live or have been there, how much would this cost?

I do this because I want to take my game to a next level; to improve technically, tactically and physically. Training in Asia is cheaper, more efficient and of better quality than in my country.

With such specific needs, you are probably better off getting a direct quotation from the various centres and coaches.

When you get there, give it a 5-7 days of lighter training for adaptation to the heat and humidity. You might need three or more T shirt changes in an intense two hour session. Two pairs of badminton shoes comes in handy as the 1st pair need drying out after a morning training session. :)

    Thanks!
Yeah my plan is to arrive there a few weeks before I start training to get accustomed to the weather. I would just like to have a rough estimate of the cost to know how much I have to save up money. I don't want to travel there to find out it's too expensive :)

    Of course.

Usually these things are flexible which is why I advise getting a quotation. An hourly rate will be more expensive than block booking 4 hours in a day etc.

Even locals may not be able to tell you the rates as the locals are more used to one hour lessons.

Suggest you look up and ask places like Pioneer or Looi's first off. I don't know how good they are at responding to emails.

And you don't need a few weeks to acclimatise. Lol.

Haha, well the difference in temperature will be 40-50 celcius degrees from where I live. Maybe 2 weeks is an exaggeration however.

Hello Metaphor, I'll be overseas as well in Malaysia, just wondering if you managed to find a good coach and the cost? Thanks :)
