Hi Everyone, I've actually landed in Singapore now, and am looking for some help/directions. I'm staying in the Somerset area for the moment, and I'm hoping to find somewhere to play (I'm intermediate-upper intermediate level) on a regular basis. I don't' mind traveling a bit, so long as it is somewhat close to the mrt. Secondary, I'm wondering where is a good place that i can have my racket strung near where I'm staying. Lastly, I'm actually in Singapore because my gf found a permanent job here, so I'm in the process of job searching too. I'm trying to look for entry level banking jobs, but pretty much open to anything else as well. If anyone could give me any advice or help for my job hunt, I'd really really appreciate it. I've been approved for the employment pass eligibility cert, so hoping to find something soon so i can stay here. Looking forward to meeting some bcers soon! Thanks a million! William
play in singapore You can try chong pang cc tonite. Near to Yishun MRT. 730pm to 930pm. 3 courts. $6sgd. I may join in tonite after a long break.
The nearest stringers to Somerset should be located at Bras Basah Complex (City Hall/Bugis MRT) or Queensway Shopping Centre (Bus no. 123). You can also visit the Sportslife Yonex showroom at Far East Plaza or Motion Sports at Paragon (Orchard MRT) but be prepared to pay premium prices. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...=1096126&highlight=textile+centre#post1096126 Have a look at Saturday's copy of the Straits Times (Recruit Section) or for a start check out these websites: http://www.jobstreet.com.sg/ http://www.jobsdb.com.sg/Singapore I heard there are groups playing at Yong Ann Park condominium and Automobile Association Centre which are along River Valley Road, near Somerset MRT. Unfortunately I do not know the organisers. Perhaps you can drop by and take a look. You can use google maps or this website to find your way around Singapore: http://www.onemap.sg/index.html
Restringing... To travel from Somersat area to Queensway Shopping Centre, take Bus #14 from bus-stop along Somersat Road (see map) to Alexandra Road and alight at bus-stop opposite Queensway Shopping Centre (see map). To go back to Somersat, just take the same bus from the hospital side of the road and alight at bus-stop opposite 313@Somersat. Once inside the shopping centre, go to Level 1 and look for Gala Sports. Those guys can do racket restringing for you within half an hour or more depending on demand. Prices from below S$20 and above. There are a few other shops dealing with badminton gear too. Walk around both levels 1 & 2 to find them. Playing... I organize regular games on a weekly basis on Sundays. Pls see my thread for latest schedule & location.. (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...s-within-Central-Region&p=1524440#post1524440) Jobs...
