Recommendation for Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles

Hi,

I'm looking for a new racket to try for the upcoming season. I only play men's doubles and mixed doubles, both at a intermediate/advanced level. Currently using Astrox 100zz 4u with Aerobite strings.

I really like the 100zz, it's great in the mid court, drives and the control is fantastic. I do wonder if I'm not fully utilising it's strengths as I am not a power player, I mainly play front court in men's doubles. The extra stiffness of the shaft is noticeable when trying to hit down smashes. My play style is more control and setting up my partner to finish the rally.

The rackets I have tried are Arcsaber 11 pro 4u (I found this a little too weak at the back court for mixed but willing to try again), Astrox 77 pro 4u (got this new and still testing but it feels sluggish in the mid court). Rackets I have my eye-on to try are 88S 4u and 88D 4u.

Any recommendations for a racket that would suit someone who plays front court men's doubles and also mixed doubles? I am aware this does sound like polar opposites as usually mixed doubles men's players are very attacking from the back court.

Also a front court MD player and XD player and I would probably try the 88D 4u or maybe even the Arc11pro 3u.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Do you have any experience with the Arc 11 pro 3u and 88S pro 3rd gen? I've read they are similar rackets with 88s having slightly more head weight.

The 88D being in between the 100zz and 88s/Arc11?

I'd probably recommend the Victor Auraspeed Fantome, my friend used a 100zz before and the Fantome became his new main.
He also tried the li ning axforce 90 new and the 1000z but they aren't as comfortable as the Fantome

I am not using either of these rackets atm but have tried the 2nd gen 88D and did find it to be good in the mid court and powerful enough. At the non pro level, we are going to get much more out of being able to defend and counter attack than we will from smashing. The less weight from the 88D vs the 100zz should be a big help to your game especially if you are a mixed and front court MD player.

Fantome is a good choice as its fast + powerful, only minor complain is that prolonged use will make your wrists and shoulder sore badly the next day due to being head heavy.
