Rendra Wijaya/Fran Kurniawan

(This is just me)..

The latest word on the street is that the National team wants to pair up Rendra-Joko instead! No more Rendra-Alvent talk... just Rendra-Joko now... But we all probably won't see them in action this year. Because the National Team is disbanded on November 13... I'm pretty confident Rendra-Joko will be called back to the National Team for 2009...
..but i personally don't like the move, Rendra & Joko... :p
Btw, from what i saw in the Dutch Open MD match video (courtesy of demolidor) i can say Rendra is a better all-around player than Fran. His court awareness/anticipation seems quicker and court coverage is better.

Rendra and Joko did well in the PON Individual Event, even beating Rian/Yoke. So, we'll see what happens.

Alvent will pair Hendra AG under Sigit

Hmm...an interesting combination. So Joko Riyadi/Rendra Wijaya will be under Ko Herry IP?

Possible Composition of MD pairs in Pelatnas after Munas:
Sigit Pamungkas -- Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan, Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki, Alvent Yulianto/Hendra A. Gunawan.

Herry IP -- Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan, Joko Riyadi/Rendra Wijaya, Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie

Reony Mainaky -- Wifqi Windarto/Afiat Yuris Wirawan, Adi Chrisna Wijaya/Syahmie Syarif Radhitian

Hmm..

Well, you had said the same earlier about Kido/Hendra :p So, have they convinced you now with 13 titles, including one World Championship and an Olympics Gold in the bag?
..i might've, but don't recall when; maybe over 1 yr ago or even 2 yrs ago (do you recall??)...Were Hendra S. & Markis always together? or they had different playing partners before?..Yes, your fave pair has convinced me.;)

The person i'm keeping a close eye on, in the Rendra & Joko partnership, is Joko; esp. after seeing his results with Hendra AG. Maybe both Joko's and Hendra AG's game was 1 dimensional & didn't develop much after those yrs (yes, i've seen them play live before and on videos). Is Rendra "better" than Hendra S.? Is Rendra "better" than Hendra AG?? Is Joko "better" than Markis? Is Joko "better" than Fran??..

Your words right after Kido/Hendra won the HKG Open 2007:
(thanks for sharing the interesting comments, badMania)..
..the bottom line & the remaining question for Hendra & Markis to answer is: when are they going to finally win over KKK & TBH? I think as long as they are still winless against their MAS counterparts, the jury will still be, somewhat, out on them...

^^Ah, yes..^^

..(thank you for bringing it back)...Yes, they did win the WC title last yr, before the HK Open, but remember, there was still doubt over whether they could beat KKK & TBH (which they didn't encounter during the WC). Also, after winning the WC and then losing to KKK & TBH, it seemed Hendra & Markis' WC's victory didn't prove much. But only after this yr's wins (which included finally beating KKK & TBH) did Hendra & Markis really convince a lot of folks (incl. myself) that they've finally arrived..;)
*My doubt wasn't as big as this current partnership of Joko & Rendra; fact that Hendra S. & Markis had won many titles before last yr's WC didn't worry me much.;)

As for Joko (and ex-partner Hendra AG), i don't recall any major (even GP type) titles they've won. If i remember correctly, most of their matches had ended in R32 or R16...certainly nothing to be proud of.:p
Btw, have Hendra S. & Markis been together since their first day in Pelatnas??..

In World Junior Championships 2002 [I think]... we saw Markis Kido-Rian Sukmawan playing on behalf of Pelatnas Pratama...

Fran-Rendra, Mel-Shendy, Fran-Shendy, and Rendra-Mel will appear one more time in Vietnam Open GP... :D In case they win the title and earn 5000 points, then:
  • Fran-Rendra [current world #23 MD] can become #19
  • Mel-Shendy [current world #13 WD] can become #12
  • Fran-Shendy [current world #16 XD] can become #12
  • Rendra-Mel [current world #39 XD] can become #24
Good luck guys... ;)

^^I see..^^

..thanks for confirming..So, basically, Markis has been only with 1 partner during their "senior" MD campaign.
How about Hendra S.? Has he been with any other partner(s) before this current partnership??..

Hendra Setiawan paired with Joko Riyadi before hired into Pelatnas. they played in WJC 2002 with Markis/Rian

^^Got it..^^

..(thanks for confirming) so, basically, both Markis and Hendra S. have been inseparable ever since their partnership.
