Replacement Grip or Cushion wrap

So im changing my Lining racket overgrip yesterday when a friend of mine borrow it & i saw the grip somewhat messy. But then i saw the original grip are thorn apart inside.

So, based on you guys experience, what you do? Replace the original grip then overlap with overgrip or just use cushion wrap & put overgrip on it?

What are the pros & cons?

agreed as above, i usually find the original grip is never grippy
Step 1)Remove original grip
Step 2)cushion wrap
Step 3)complete with overgrip

Precision 8.0 has car wrap and Protech 8 has heat shrink fishing grip

My brain started thinking of other applications of the heat shrink fishing grip.

Instead of using cushion wrap would a heat shrink fishing grip be a suitable replacement (i.e. is it thin enough yet also provide the cushion of cushion/pro wrap)? it's also water repellent protecting the wood handle from any potential rotting from absorbing hand sweat.

I see potential reusability issues if you put replacement or towel grip on top (adhesive!!) vs standard overgrip (non-adhesive.
For the former i always recommend either hockey or duct tape over the wood prior to applying replacement/towel grip.
