Russian Open 2007

It was an unconvincing start for Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki as they beat Evgenij Dremin/Alexej Vasiljev 21-10, 19-21, 23-21. The Russian pair actually had a match point at 21-20 before Rian/Yoke finished them off with the final 3 points of the match. What a close shave......

They better play better if they are to stand a chance against the vastly improving Tsai Chia-Hsin/Hu Chung-Hsien tomorrow
I have been told that linesmen are very amateur....they point the shuttle "in" or "out" later...it is telmi ( telat mikir)...creating a few chaos....:D:D...

Nina Vislova, the 2007 Dutch Open finalist

Do you see her resemblance with Maria Sharapova? :) I do.

She does has the resemblance. But she have a Bad temper boy. You can try her out. I think this tournament will be one sided.. bit boring.

One sided...maybe for those involving Russian players only?? There are quite a number of interesting matches with a few upsets yesterday  China might win a few titles here, but, to say that it is a one sided tournament will be an understatement

Well, with no Malaysian representatives, it might be boring for Malaysian fans, but, it's certainly still an interesting tournament for Indonesian fans, even though we might end up with nothing after all :p

Not bad, most INA players have advanced to R16.

MEN'S SINGLES R16
Chen Yu [1] vs Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka -- the Chinese player to win!

Ari Yuli Wahyu Hartanto vs Hsieh Yu-Hsin -- Wahyu has done well to beat Sho Sasaki. He might suprise us again today.

Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [8] vs Kestusis Navickas -- should be a straight forward win for Andre.

Tommy Sugiarto vs Dmytro Zavadsky -- Tommy should advance.

Alamsyah Yunus vs Chen Hong [2] or Kaveh Mehrabi -- I have a feeling Chen Hong withdraws. If so, Alam has a good chance against Kaveh Mehrabi.

MEN'S DOUBLES R16
Mike Beres/William Milroy [4] vs Anggun Nugroho/Tantowi Akhmad -- I am predicting an upset here....and if both Anggun/Towi and Rian/Yoke win today, they will meet in the QF.

Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki [8] vs Tsai Chia-Hsin/Hu Chung-Hsien -- Rian/Yoke were very nervous yesterday and let's hope they can beat the Chinese-Taipei pair, who did the upset over Koo/Tan just 2 weeks ago.

Rendra Wijaya/Fran Kurniawan vs Michal Logosz/Robert Mateusiak [2] -- Rendra/Fran have an uphill task of beating the second seed. Let's see if they can stretch the more experienced pair to at least a rubber-set.

WOMEN'S SINGLES R16
Maria Elfira Christina vs Kati Tolmoff -- I hope Fira can win.

Fransisca Ratnasari vs Cheng Shao-Chieh [8] -- the odds are on the Chinese-Taipei player to win...but...it will be a very good result for Nana if she can upset the 8th seed.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES R16
Chien Yu-Chin/Cheng Wen-Hsing [1] vs Yulianti/Nathalia Christine Poluakan -- likewise, it will be difficult for Yuli/Lia to beat the vastly experienced Chinese-Taipei pair.

MIXED DOUBLES R16
Anggun Nugroho/Nathalia Christine Poluakan vs Andrew Bowman/Sarah Bok -- with Anggun's experience, I hope this new pair can qualify for the QF and avenge Towi/Yuli's loss yesterday.

I expect to see many European players.. but it seems that they are not interested to join. The only exciting player i'm looking at is Robert Blair. Thats why its boring.

Well, the ENG first team is not there, but, the second team is there. Coupled with Xu Huaiwen, some Chinese players like Chen Yu, Wang Yihan, Du Jing/Yu Yang, He Hanbin/Yu Yang, most of the Chinese-Taipei players, some veteran MD pairs like Logosz/Mateusiak, Hopp/Kindervater, and some interesting young pairs, it's still a good tournament.

Initially, we thought that the participation is going to be even less competitive than the field we have.

From RUS Open's website, today's match (07 December/07) will play 2 rounds for all divisions :
- Round of 16 will start at 10.00am local time
- Quarterfinal : 04.00pm (08.00pm WIB) with order to play XD-WS-MD-WD-MS

That schedule is quite strange as we know players usually playing preliminary round and quarter in different day.
