We won't be able to know what happened in that match because there was no live streaming. Looking at photos, I guess there was a disputed line call. Anyways, Saina once again showed her fighting spirit and tenacity in stretching the match against Akane.
Does she have a realistic chance of qualifying for Tokyo considering her current form. She's languishing far behind at number 27 in the race to Rio qualification rankings and these first round loses will certainly not help her cause. Any thoughts on this?
Tbh I don't think she can qualify if we go by her recent performances. But Gill always says never write Saina off. I know the results this past year hasn't beem encouraging and she's got I think 5-6 months more to sort things out. Currently she is at rank 27 with 31,187 points. 16th ranked player is having 38,436 points. Possibility is small but let's see how it turns out
I mean I never ever write her off but these first round loses, I am not sure what they have done to her confidence plus it always gives a lower ranked player a psychological edge knowing their opponent is beatable seeing their recent record. Hope she does well in Hongkong and Lucknow to end the year on a high.
I have same thoughts for her just like you have. What I said about that Gill remark is maybe Saina can surprise us. Going by present scenarios, it's looking tough. Syed Modi will be tough for her. She needs to protect her points as she reached last year final and this year Syed Modi will have HBJ, CM, LM, HY. Latter two in her quarter. Let's see how she performs.
Saina Nehwal Parupalli is now fully patriotic and purified as she takes a dip in the holy BaJaPa. She'll definitely get her Padma soon .
May be she took a break from PBL to practice politics. Are you disappointed by her entering politics or joining one of the two bullshit parties?
Politics equals hypocrisy. I don't know what made her make this decision. I'm disappointed she entered politics. All parties are same for me. Sighhhh.
She has her post-retirement plans made. Wonder if badminton is still in her plans this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hasn't she become too demanding or complaining after her form dropped. And after marriage both saina and kashyap attitude is like they are in airs.
from all the stuff i've read i'd say she's just demanding/expecting professionalism from others. i don't have a problem with that. if you're working at a job in your industry's highest level everybody involved should be among the smartest/best at what they do: athletes, administrators, officials, organizers, etc... most nat'l federations & bwf haven't exactly given many reasons to show they are.
Saina is in very bad shape, it is very heartening to see her scramble hard, great character but she need to train harder and get in shape.
