    The hindu report
She moves with measured strides. She hits the shuttle flat with power and panache, straining every sinew. There aren't many players who can play quite like Saina Nehwal in India. In the domestic circuit, women are not used to her pace and style of play. Junior National champion Aditi Mutatkar (PSPB) found the speed at which Saina (PSPB) played quite unnerving in the women's final of the BSNL senior National badminton championship at the Secretariat Sports Club here on Sunday. Her best was not enough as Saina, the top seed, raced to a 21-19, 21-16 to clinch her maiden women's singles title from three successive finals.

A deceptive player, Aditi fought back from being down 1-7 in the first game to take the lead 13-12 when Saina netted a return. Aditi matched Saina at the net and from the baseline with some delicate drops.

Initially, she created problems and was dominating the rallies. But once Saina started to get her drops and overhead smashes going, Aditi had no choice but to relent. When Saina is set, it's next to impossible to even contemplate defeating her. That's exactly what happened in the second game

Saina Nehwal is good for Badminton in India

    Hi Carbonex8200LT,

    Thank you for the report.

I think Saina Nehwal has not only raised her own personal performance recently(in terms of her own World Ranking), but she has also raised the performances of many India's potential Ladies Badminton players as well.

Well Done Saina... for everyone at Badminton in India !!!

    Cheers... chris@ccc

    That is awesome!

I want to see more competition for the Chinese women... :p Indonesia will groom our own champions, of course. Then, we shall see who gets the 2012 or 2016 Olympic gold then... :)

So far the Women Singles gold medals in from the four Olympic games that had badminton [1992, 1996, 2000, 2004] are distributed:
    1 for Indonesia
    1 for Korea
    2 for China

2008... er... I think it will go to China... :p
    2012? Up for grabs!
2016? [if they still have badminton as an Olympic sport...]

Very interesting... most Asian countries [like Malaysia, China, Indonesia, and Korea] all had their National Championships in November and December... I guess India is different.

    Facts about Saina

    Dear Sir
Your observations on Saina are correct except that she came to Hyderabad at the age of 8 not 6 and officially she started playing badminton at the age of 9 not 6.
    Thanks
    Harvir

Hey I am not a sports editor but I got some news for this thread.

Recently one of my BC friends sent me some links of Phil06 games up for viewing.

He sent me three uploaded files, however only one of them seems to be working. Unfortunately I cant send him an email because it was sent from megaupload itself and not using any email address I can use to contact back.
