Satwik SaiRaj RankiReddy/ Chirag Shetty

Satwik and Chirag maintained the legacy of bringing a medal back for India in WC since 2011. Both of them battled their demons post Paris 24 and defeated top pairs WangLiang and ChiaSoh to reach semis. They had negative h2h against both the pairs and I’m sure majority of people including me thought their journey will end in r16 of this WC. Couldn’t convert the winning momentum of this tournament tonight but were deserving winners of bronze medal. So time to update their achievements:

First Indian pair to win super 500 (Thai Open)
First Indian pair to win WC medal
First Indian pair to win super 750 (France Open)
First Indian pair to win BAC gold medal.
First Indian pair to win super 1000 (Indo Open)
First Indians to win Asian Games gold medal.
First Indian pair to win 2 WC medals.
Certainly a good achievement. Just frustrating they really could have gone even further!

still plenty of time...

keep in mind they're coming from an unstructured system, bai. do you realize how hard that is?

how many wc & og champions, in any category, came from a 'non-centralized' national infrastructure?

That’s why I find CM feat something which might never be replicated by anyone else. She deserves all the respect based on
despite coming from a non badminton country and achieving so much. Comebacks from ACLs too add to respect factor.

You missed out on Thomas Cup.

Yes extremely frustrating despite being way ahead in both the sets (semis) they managed to loose the game. I feel sorry for them. Life has been hard for them, right from injuries to many other things.

Quite disappointed with their performance at AEO as they went out in the first round to an unseeded young Malaysian pair. They looked quite rusty as they haven’t played for a while. I can’t see them progressing any further, I think their time is up. Unfortunately for India, there is no other MD pair Coming up. the decline of Indian Badminton is here.

Yeah right. Not only rusty, they have failed to understand in five months that their opponents are not lifting the shuttle for SatChi to smash, they are playing tight spinning net shots and parallel shots to defeat the Indian pair. It’s high time India should start focusing on new MD pair and even focus on mixed doubles discipline

From what I’ve sensed from past and present (today’s match), SatChi energy is absolutely not there. I was giving them time , I still am. But I have to say I’m getting a little less optimistic now. Will see if they rise with time or not. But sensing from today’s match and past, I think the time to reach “that phase” will be longer. They are top 5, good. But their true “mental phase and performance based rank” would be 7-8. Definitely top 10. It would be tough to remain in top 5. I don’t see us winning based on current form and mental state against current top 3.

Even when Daniel Marthin was doing jump smashes one after another, still Satwik and Chirag always lifted the birdie towards him. At highest level, you need to be smart enough as well to win a tournament

No. I wont fault them for that. For me, they should have fought more hard in the first set, thats where they lacked intensity. I always believe they are slow starters and thats a bad thing because from next year with 15points, they will have to really tighten up. The second game was on and off with either sides catching up. I won't be too harsh on them.

Other than Kim/Seo i don't think SatChi will perform poorly against others. It will be 60-40 or 40-60 either way. If you are talking about winning tournaments, yeah i believe they will fumble, but i still think they can get us 6-7 Semi-finals and couple of final tournament performances in a calendar year. And i honestly don't think anyone in India will near SatChi in terms of the performances which they will give us. I would rather wholeheartedly support them rather than anyone else.

P.S :: Yesterday, the crowd support for SatChi was worth hearing. Satwik should have been happy with so many fans cheering :P : P

Yeah. Slow start should be avoided because opponent won’t give you any chance to make a comeback if the pair is from countries like Indonesia, Korea or China

Indonesian pair yesterday dictated the tempo using flat drives, quick rotation and most importantly subtle wrist movements which broke SatChi’s rhythm from the start

Naah. The second game was neck to neck, i really can't see a period in the second game where the Indonesians dictated. In the first game they weren't tight.

Don't see us winning on current form. SatChi proved you wrong :P :P. They are the most trustworthy and hardworking pairs, despite being so injury prone. Despite all their mental shortcomings i support them and have soft feeling towards them as playing always with a niggle isn't easy. And i say this, they are the ones who will give us continuous semi final performances, with a final or win here and there.

Useless Lakshya after getting fluke get over against Kunlavut is not even able to win against Koki Watanabe, playing with zero intensity.

Don't see us winning on current form.
I meant it. Everyone could see it since 2024 “with that form”. You might also agree regarding it. Whatever happened this week doesn’t reflect what form they were in.

Very happy that they did the unexpected by winning in straights against KimSeo and ultimately winning the tournament.

You echoed the same feelings I had lol. I think everyone felt the same back then.

I beg to differ. I also said I still think they can get us 6-7 Semi-finals and couple of final tournament performances in a calendar year. From here its only matter of getting lucky. Last year unfortunately it didn't work out, who knows this year it might work out 20% in their favour. And if it does then 2 titles they can get :) :) I think this is still different from saying that they can't win titles. Can't win titles means 0% chance, 6-7 Semis and One finals means 20% chance of a title. Subtle difference bhai :P :P
