Sea Lion C1101

I was told that this Chinese shuttlecock, Sea Lion C1101, is a very good one which is rather durable and its feathers long lasting!

I have never played with this shuttle before and wonder what sort of experience you have playing with it.

Do you know who or which company is the importer, distributor or dealer of this brand for Singapore and KL and how much is the price for a carton. Does it come in different grades?

Much appreciate your feedback on this.

Bought sea lion few weeks ago to try at ranking , $19 i think, its a durable shuttle i think with good flight, think if buy in bulk or in malaysia, it can be cheaper by 1 or 2 dollars(which will make it a very good deal). Definitely better than AS-30 which recently rose from $19 to $22/23 at ranking. There is also C1130 which is similar to it.
The feather is not very solidly embedded in the cork and structure may not be as rigid as other brand, meaning that its rigidness may soften more with use. I think too rigid shuttles will break faster than flexible ones.

On the tube, it is written :

Hey I remember those! :D

Yeah they're actually quite good. I've not used them for a long
while now because they're not available in Australia. They were
quite easy to find in M'sia tho'. Not too sure about Singapore.
Not too sure if they're of the same quality as the ones we used,
which was about two/three years back...

You know the sticker that is on the cork inside the shuttle?
There were two types -The red and the white. The white one
is superior to the red. Lasts longer and flies better. The funny
thing was that they were both similar in price, which was about
RM$22-$25 at the time. I think it's about RM$30 now...

Hope this helps :D

Can't remember using C1101 , however i would suggest you to use SeaLion Gold. If i'm not mistaken it cost around RM35 per carton.

Thanks crazysmasher for such a useful report.

Did you continue to use sealion or because you're such a crazysmasher, sealion's relatively softer structure did not stand a chance and you've given it up for good? :D

Thanks ants. So they do have different grades. Let me guess your location now. I believe you're still in KL and not gone to Manila yet. ;)

Just got back from EU. Still have a little Lag here..

I have been using the Sealion C1101 (IBF verified) in my school for about 1.5 years now. For me, I don't find anything amazing about this shuttle when comparing to my AS-40.

It is lower cost (comparing with other shuttles in the US) and I think that's one of its biggest advantages. Other than that, the flight is ok, the durability is normal, and the packaging is regular.....nothing really amazing but nothing is bad.:)

I just started using it. As contrary to my nickname, i do not smash that much :) For my level of play i find it good and value for money. As Bluejeff mentioned, there is nothing outstanding about it. It is expected since it is cheap $19 maybe malaysia cheaper, and can be about $5-6 cheaper than As-40, cannot compare the two :) Quality comes at a price ( Example: the supreme yonex tournament F-90) The thing is to find a good compromise between price and quality :)

As commented, it seems in malaysia can get it cheaper by $1 or $2 :)

Ants, Wow RM35 for 1 whole carton of shuttle tubes, that's dead cheap :D :p !!!

(Ranking sports i mean level3 Bras Basah)

but come to think of it, i went to Ranking today and it's selling AS40 at 24 dollars (it's actually on the 22 dollars slot, and the uncle really mistook it for the real price.. haha)... quite reasonable IMO.

it's OK imo, gotta steam it before game night if not the feather strand just gonna go. decent value for my money, IMO; having not using feather in past year or so...

C1101

Hi,
I think Sealion C1101 had changed their shuttlecock tube from white to Green stripes. The cost in KL is about RM41/- to RM$42/- per tube. It is good in flight and performance but I have yet to compare it to Aeroplane shuttlecock SG 1130 Super grade,Red Label.;) In Spore, Aeroplane SG 1130 Super grade Red Label costs abt S$23/- per tube.

Hi Lumix,
U can get this brand at Zenith Sport,3rd floor Bras Pasah Complex. The best one is Black label. But I heard the Red Label is good enough for majority of the game.;)

Hello Lee,

Zenith Sports? I dun frequent this shop as I find some of their stuff rather overpriced IMHO.

How do you find the Red or Black labels (sound like vintage hard liquor :D ) as compared to AS40 or PT10? Keen to test some new shuttles. Found Aeroplane shuttles rather expensive in Hong Kong during my trip there 2 years ago.

At one time, maybe in the 60s and 70s, China-made Aeroplane shuttles were the rage in Singapore. Many of the tops clubs used this bird because of its quality. But I haven't played with one for a very, very long time now.
