    Badminton Fashion ;)

    Article on badzine  http://badzine.info/index.php/features/editorial-journals/2497-tuc-2010-moments-aarons-angle-ii.html

"Our roaming correspondent and preview specialist, Aaron Wong, takes us along wherever he goes and we see what he sees.

This is the second in a series of short pieces. On this occasion Aaron takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the importance of attire, grooming, and wonders how much we are slaves, victims or understand badminton fashion.

Fashion in badminton has come to the forefront. Looking cool is more the point than ever before. What bigger event than the Thomas and Uber Cups (TUC) for the big racquet brands to model their new season's line. Walking through the foyer of the Putra Stadium, clothes are definitely selling in excess of racquets and accessories at the Yonex, Victor and Li Ning booths.

Comment: BAM must face hard reality and take action
    2010/05/13

THE BA of Malaysia can't claim that it wasn't warned and neither must the Thomas Cup defeat to Japan come as a surprise for the signs had been there for a while now.
The inclusion of veteran Wong Choong Hann, the inconsistent Hafiz Hashim and doubles Zakry Latif-Faiuzizuan Tazari -- whose performance had dropped so badly, were indications of how bad the situation in Malaysian badminton is.
Yet, BAM persisted with these players but irrespective of what happens in the Thomas Cup, the national body has no choice but to make major changes.
The non-performers must be dropped and there must no longer be any excuse.
Lee Chong Wei is the only player who has maintained his class while Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong are still not totally out of depth but the rest have no business playing in the most prestigious team event in badminton.
One can't blame Choong Hann because the coaches hardly had any choice but to recall him and his limitations, mainly due to his age, were cruelly exposed by the hardworking Sho Sasaki.
Zakry-Fairuz have received more than their fair share of breaks but it is time national doubles coach Rexy Mainaky splits them or start focusing on younger pairs like Mak Hee Chun-Tan Wee Kiong and world junior champions Chooi Kah Ming-Ow Yao Han.
Fairuz also showed his ugly side by retaliating to a provocative gesture by some fans and he has to be punished for his behaviour was inexcusable.
BAM is known for its leniency but a deterrent punishment has to be meted out to ensure national players know their limits.
Fairuz is already 27 and this is not the kind of example he should be setting for the younger players.
He should be more focused on improving his form rather than letting his emotional behaviour further harm the morale of the battered Thomas Cup squad.
Rexy is also not without blame for he had repeatedly preached about the "improvement" Zakry-Fairuz had shown in training.
There was none on show on Tuesday and Rexy has to be more objective in his assessment of players from now for his credibility is at stake.
Pairs under Tan Kim Her like Hee Chun-Wee Kiong and Goh Wei Shem-Teo Kok Siang are showing good progress and it will be for the best if Kien Keat-Boon Heong also join them before they start going the Zakry-Fairuz way.
Rexy should shift his attention to guiding younger pairs while the indications are clear that Kim Her will play a more prominent role in the near future if the Thomas Cup performance of the doubles pairs is anything to go by.
As for Hafiz, wasting time and money on him must stop and Hendrawan must start focusing on the younger players if Malaysia are to avoid another humiliation in the 2012 Thomas Cup.
National singles chief coach Rashid Sidek must also make some hard decisions as retaining the current back-up squad will be an exercise in futility and attention should instead shift to juniors like Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin, Misbun Ramdan Misbun, Zulfadli Zulkifli and Low Wei Sheng.
The BAM council, led by president Datuk Nadzmi Salleh, must also do some soul searching for the defeat to Japan was unacceptable.
Malaysia still have the World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games to aim for this year and the players can still redeem themselves.
The New Delhi Commonwealth Games will be a walk in the park but the real challenge will be the World Championships in Paris and Asian Games in Guangzhou.
Failure to land gold in both will only reinforce the need for a revamp and it should involve all levels, not just the players.
Failing which, Malaysia are staring at a disaster in the 2012 London Olympics.

Definitely a clear warning sign for Rexy Mainaky and I think Tan Kim Her will probably replace him as the Head Coach in Doubles.

One thing I dun quite understand is that why Rexy chose to field the 1/2 Fuzzy (fuzzy + Hoon) instead of the dropping the Fuzzy pair? I am puzzled how did Rexy access the Fuzzy pair's performance. Improving? Of what? Based on what? They were early casualties in the last few pre-TC tournaments.

In fact I think Rexy did a reasonable good job in fielding HTH/Zakry. The danes did not play their game. Keep guessing and figure out how to beat our player. I would say.. the match can go our way. Just that some mistakes from HTH.. which is normal. HTH did not crumble under pressure.. but i guess he is nervous. The result could be more disastrous. It is a gamble from Rexy. To be fair to Rexy.. i think he did the right thing in fielding HTH/Zakry against the Danes.

IN REGARDS TO LI YONGBO RUBS IT IN..

He is right. No doubt about it. LI Yongbo is also taking a gamble as well here. But he is looking for the long term.

Who cares what you drive if you have the money. Driving a luxury car may not mean that a person have the money. It may be a company car or some white/black money car.

Change a career? Hehe go golf instead. Not badminton. Hehe

Marc zwielber keep shouting 'f*uck off several times towards the end of the match because he did some silly mistake in front of the net. and the referee did warned him about that. :p
