I think Viktor prefers a slow shuttle and little drift. That's one of the reasons why he dominated in SC and TC and then struggled initially in DO until they changed to a reasonable shuttle speed. So if VA loses to Koki, I would guess it would be because of difficulties controlling the drift thus forcing him to play more safe / further from the lines, effectively "making the court smaller".

That's what i thought. Viktor prefers slow shuttle . Tokyo Olympics used slow shuttles. That's why, He could win Tokyo Olympics.

You're probably joking, but it's obviously a bit more complicated than that. Viktor came prepared and peaked during Tokyo.

Good stuff so far, it's finally starting to be a fairly good time to be a badminton viewer again. I'm glad Kento is back in the game. Although he's doing better than before, he seems to have been demoted to a mere mortal compared to the demigod who roamed the Earth in 2019. Time will tell. I've really enjoyed watching Vittinghus over the past weeks, it's a bit baffling how he's still able to take out young, strong players at his age.

Fajar Alfian/Mohd Rian Ardianto will need to get into the Final to qualify for the World Tour Finals in MD. And that too assumes that their younger counterparts Pramudya Kusumawardhana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan lose to the rising pair of Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi today. If Pram/Yere can beat the Japanese, Fajar/Rian will literally need to win this tournament this week.

In the XD, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti will squeeze through to the World Tour Finals, assuming Nicholas Nohr/Amelie Magelund and the Olympic Champions are not coming to Bali next week.

So, in total INA may only have 4 pairs (2 in MD and 1 each in WD and XD) next week.

HK Vittinghus is a warrior, just like Gillian said all these years.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting peaked at the Olympics Games 2020, winning the Bronze Medal.
He contributed to the victory at the Thomas Cup, but he also lost twice to Kantaphon Wangcharoen and not surprisingly to the in-form Viktor Axelsen. His recent losses to players ranked below him will be a concern.....especially the last 2 weeks' performances in home tourneys.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Christie peaked at the Thomas Cup, only losing to Kunlavut Vitidsarn. He fulfilled his seeding at the Denmark Open (losing to the top-seeded Kento Momota) and likely this week too as he is facing his compatriot for a place in the QF today. Overall, Jojo is in a better form than Ginting. If he can beat either Anders Antonsen or Wang Tzu Wei to reach the SF this week, I can give an 8 for his performance since early October.

You have to say this to Our beloved commentators Steen and Morten. They use this slow shuttles concept for Sindhu whenever she won some medals in Bwf tournaments (even when she won World Championships).. Even I know just shuttle speed alone can't win you medals. They have been using this whenever possible in every tournament. If you did not watch previous tournament, just watch what Morten said while commentating for certain players.

Another dismal performance by Tokyo OG bronze medalist to swallow back to back first round exit to upcoming star, he had tough times to play the usual fast paced style, credit to Christo Popov who turned the tables in both games especially second set from trailing behind 8-13. The Olympic Champion was obviously physically struggling, too bad the inexperienced Koki Watanabe couldn't capitalise this situation to contruct more long rallies and pushing his opponent to the back line that tiring out Axelsen. Some seeded players find complicated task in last sixteen and perhaps will determine their path towards World Tour Finals including the top-seed Momota takes on Loh Kean Yew.

For the sake of badminton popularity reason and no surprise if we can witness the underdog could topped podium on Sunday's final, for the good example when SGP representative Loh KY won Hylo Open in Saarbrucken.

    "fault, service delay"

But it's just take 2 seconds to serve.

I think I read somewhere that it depends on how the outcome of the other MD matches go,but it's just a slim chance they will qualify.
