uncle taneepak, read also the other thread. One is politics among the top guns(as usual). The way the situation is handled by the top guns is making things awkward for Rexy & TKH. NSC Director(boss of all sports associations) was pissed BAM took in another coach without informing them & getting their approval 1st. Salary for coaches comes from NSC allocation (except for Hendrawan), TKH salary until TC in May is from BAM's funds. BAM funds supposed is in deficit by RM70,000, basically no funds to hire new coach. There're at least 2 camps, those who want Rexy to stay & those who want to kick out Rexy - they all have different top guns supporting. If they pressure Rexy to resign(cos his contract with BAM is until 2011), will piss off another group of top guns.
Its good to know that our doubles department is making alot of noise. How i wish our singles department can do that too...
NSC Director has no right to be pissed off. BAM has to run and manage its operations without any interference from NSC. This is the same with any sports organization. For example if the Malaysia Football Association took orders from the Malaysian government (the BIG BOSS), FIFA will sack the Malaysian organization for interference from the government. There is no such thing as 2 camps. The one and only camp is BAM and its minutes on hiring TKH is the "law". Just because NSC is the mother of all funds is no reason they have any say. For NSC to meddle in such a low level thing as hiring a coach then here lies the problem. BAM gets its funds from its budget which has been approved earlier. Of course it can under spend or over spend its budget, and like any organization it can seek bridging loans. Perhaps we should look at the happenings in the English Premier League on how they hire and fire coaches so efficiently and professionally-no room for personal feelings. The only law any sports organization follows is "where is the silverware"? No silverware and out you go. Feelings, what feelings? Feelings and what is morally right or wrong oftentimes kill professionalism.
2 camps part is refering to internal politics within BAM & those outside BAM support whichever camp as in their vested interest. Sthing like office politics. The politics they're playing is making things more complicated. Take note that Ganga Rao said BAM will apply to NSC for funding of TKH's salary after May. NSC wouldnt pay TKH salary bf that, it's not in the planned budget thing. NSC does have a say officially as to approval of $$$ for salary, same for all sports. Funds approval thus far is until March 2010 - that's for tournaments, NSC dont give one shot all if I not mistaken. The full story very long, you can read thru yourself.
can bam survive without the support of nsc?if they can't then they have nuttin' to yap about.this is all abunch of bs politics!
Salary Money to pay TKH's salary. http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2010/2/20/sports/5712049&sec=sports
As expected BAM president has announced that Rexy's job is on the line. If the coming Thomas Cup shows that Malaysia's doubles do not deliver, Rexy will get the sack.
Either that, or fire Rexy, then have $$$ to pay TKH kish-m-ash, it was reported in Harian Metro that NSC pays 90% of the $$$ to send players for International tournaments, that's why NSC must approve how many get to go. It makes me wonder though, (since they're reported to be RM70,000 in deficit), what BAM does with the $$$ from sponsors like Proton, Yonex, Jati, 100 Plus, Phiten & now ING.
yes, this is already in the making for sometime ... and the tc is the deadline... other supporting 'clues': 1/ rexy never been informed of tkh's appointment 2/ new sponsor comes into bam so that's why nsc, also, never been informed (can anyone get a sponsor within days, weeks?) 3/ ?? rexy, that's the way it is, deliver one pair is not good enough, bam needs two!
That is correct. NSC has no legal right to have any say. NSC was formed by an Act of parliamenrt in March 2006, and you can find nothing in the Act that gives them any say in the management of the BAM. Now, BAM is even telling Rexy that he is now soley responsible to make good use of TKH. This new directive means Rexy cannot blame anyone for any setback in the coming TC.
..and if rexy is smart, and i hope he reads this thread, join 'forces' with tkh for if the world's best 2 md coaches in malaysia and the results is still not there after tc then the problem lies elsewhere... let's us hear what rexy has to say in the next few weeks...
Rexy will get the sack None of our doubles shuttlers will deliver at the AE The only impact we will make at the TC/UC is a lot of noise in the stands. Not possible to keep both TKH & Rexy as it is not cost efficient. The man will be gone.
The BAM has now blamed itself for allowing Rexy to have too much discretion to train his players. They are now saying Rexy has not delivered and that he has been given him too much time to deliver which he has failed. From now on Rexy will have to submit monthly "report cards" on his players to BAM. The heat is on Rexy now. This type of performance appraisal should have been carried out from the beginning. But then Rexy, with his initial success in the early years, might have objected.
Msia's TC line up is weaker than 2008, hard even to reach finals. So by setting such a target, same as saying ' you're fired but better if you resign yourself' If results not there, they can say TKH just came, Rexy is chief, so Rexy's fault. If TKH help & Msia does well, they can say it's due to TKH, not Rexy. Standard politics lah But isnt Rexy's contract supposed to be until mid 2011? Or they just extended 1 year from 2009.. Meanwhile the drama continues from other parties :Rashid's responde to BAM President's statement, read the last line. http://www.bharian.com.my/Current_News/BH/Sunday/Sukan/20100221075304/Article/print_html
yes, mas line up is weak because of the gap between the 1st singles and 2nd singles and exactly the same with the doubles. so now its up to rexy to play his card fast to avoid the standard politics... rashid is fast to pinpoint that as he quoted in bh but that won't change anything in bam.
Not so fast, pls hold your horses. Rexy was appointed in mid 2005. It is now coming to 5 years. The year 2008 saw Rexy in his 3rd year with BAM. Now, what has changed since then for the current team to be weaker than in 2008? I think BAM has every right to demand some silverware from their men's doubles. Five long years with only one high prize AE in 2007, but great disappointments in both the World Championship and the Olympics. Don't read too much about contract terms. A coach can be contracted to 2011. Depending on the terms of the contract, a sidelined coach might still be paid for doing nothing or he can be paid off to leave early. There were some comments from former national player James Selvaraj criticizing the makeup of the new BAM coaching and training committee for not including more ex-players, although Rexy, Rashid, and Sun Chenhua are in the committee. I think James is out of step with timing. He should have criticized why action was not taken earlier, not the makeup members of the new committee for lacking enough past players. I am glad James is not in any responsible position in the BAM or in any organization. We want strategic thinkers and action men who can think ahead and take corrective action before the rot sets in, not people who complain about the percent of ex-players versus non-players in the committee. The fault of BAM was not to crack the whip earlier. Now so much time has been lost. No one is indispenasble, and a great coach cannot live on his laurels after just one initial success if he under-delivers for the next 3 years.
