Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra progress to the QF after an easy win over a Junior pair from Thailand. Up next is Goh Wei Shern/Vountus Indra Mawan.

With Chan Chong Ming/Chew Choon Eng out of the tournament, AG/Alvent's chance of progressing into the Final increases slightly ;) I hope they win this tourney!

Nice to know that all the Singapore players have advanced to the QF tomorrow! :D

    1. Zhang Beiwen beat her two JPN rivals in the WS quite convincingly.

    2. Danny Chrisnanta/Chayut Triyachat shocked the 4th seed JPN MD pair of Naoki/Shoji in R1 and PHI pair of Asucion/Gadi in R2.

    3. Young Chen Jiayuan beat the more experienced Chie Umezu in R1 and another JPN veteran and 4th seed Kaori Imabeppu in R2.

May they continue to play their best in the QF. :)

The name sounds very familiar. Is she the same Wang Rong who lost to Wei Yan in the finals of the 2000 World Junior Championship (the year where Yu Jin was the top seed for WS and Lin Dan was the top seed for MS but they both fell in the semi's)? I remember a very cheerful Wang Rong, who like Gao Ling, smiles all the time.

I guess injuries and tough competiton are the reasons why why Yu Jin, Wang Rong, and Wei Yan never made it big on China's National A Team in Woman Singles (Gong Zhichao, Gong Ruina, Zhou MI, and Zhang Ning were still around while Xie Xinfang was an up and rising star). So many juniors from the 2000 World Championship made it big in the next few years (eg. Lin Dan, Bao Chunlai, Zheng Bo, Yang Sang, Wei Yili, Zhang Jiwan, ZhaoTingTing, etc).
Hope Wang Rong will do well in this tournament.
