I really hope Kuan Beng Hong has finally found his confidence by winning the malacca open to shine in this tournament. Of course , I want Lee chong wei to play Peter Gade to avenge his lost in the Thomas Cup.

Expect the 2nd stringers from China to step up.

But clearly it would be nice to see how much KBH has recovered. Is he ready to take a step forward after his dismal performances in the TC and then coming back to win the Malacca Open ? I always feel he is an LCW in the making but he just needs maturity --- he gives points away when he is down (and silly ones too, reminiscence of LCW not too long ago).

If KBH gets going, then we really have something to talk about.

Yes his win over Yeoh Kay Bin (YKB) in the Malacca Open is encouraging since YKB is no slouch. If he can make the QTR FINAL in the Thai Open (and win against some top players like BCL or Boonsak or KJ) it would signal to us he has got his confidence back.

Can the fringe players step up in the Thai Open ? E.g. Boonsak, Susilo, Kendrick, Santoso, Ng Wei, BCL, etc. Or do again we expect them to be easy fodders for LCW or PG ?

Is Hafiz, the forgotten hero of the Philippines Open, going to be irrelevant or has Misbun prepared him well to win this ? On his day, this guy is very capable --- will he be good enough to get into the Final. Something to think about --- he is not that far away from the $$$$$'s I reckon.

Badminton is getting to be a big money sport - players now work harder in order to succeed. So expect more casualties.
