Hmm, 7 is a perfect number, but.. ...will they be lucky to get "Lucky no. 7"??...Personally, it is extremely very2 difficult to win, let alone, sweep all 7 events(or any events in any reg. tournaments for that matter).. . I myself think they will not win 'em all(looking realistically, their "weak events" are MD and XD), but with how things have been going this past yr for the CHN team, who knows, maybe that dream will come true..
Taufik is targeting GOLD ?? really ?! ohh i didn't know it ! LOL All players target GOLD ... not only taufik ! =)

Mostly every player dreams for a gold metal... except maybe Hafiz whom mentioned that he would be satisfied for a bronze..... Taufik needs to learn that action speaks louder than words... last time, his big speech about world championship final against Lin Dan, just completely back-fired on him when he lost in the rounds of 16... well maybe since the Asian Games has less top players, he should get to the semi and meet either LCW or Bao, then we get to hear the famous quote after he loses... "insert name, he was playing very well... people in Indo should not expect me to win every tournament for the country."
hey man, most top players in the world come from asia , and most of them are competiting in ASIAN GAMES DOHA for the 'enlightenment' top players who are competiting in ASIAN GAMES: Ms: Lindan, Bao, Chen JIn, Taufik H, Lcw, Hafidz, LHI, Boonsak just missing 2 or 1 non asian top players : Peter Gade or KJ MD: Cai/fu, Markis/hendra,alven/luluk,korea MD, Mas Md just missing 1or 2 non asia top players : erricsen/lungrad or blair/nathan XD: Nova/natsir,zzw/xzb, korea XD, Thai XD, Mas XD just missing 2 non asian top players: nathan/gail or denmark XD WS: all china top players , WMC just missing 2 or 3 (not exactly) non asian top players : yao jie, pio yan, xiu wen WD: all china top players, mas pair just missing 1 or 2 non asian top players: denmark or england pairs

still.. it means that in the MS.. less well known players will be taking part..so i do agree with bananaboy said...hihi
Bad boy Badminton bad boy Hidayat to defend Asian Games title Taufik Hidayat ... promises plenty of surprises. HONG KONG (AFP) - The bad boy of badminton, Taufik Hidayat, has made a timely return to form and promises plenty of surprises in his quest to defend gold at the Asian Games in Doha. For much of the year, the Olympic champion has been sidelined with a back injury that saw him slide down the world rankings. The 25-year-old Indonesian crashed out of the world championships in Madrid in the third round, losing to China's Chen Hong in three sets. But Hidayat proved he still has plenty of fire in his belly, rocketing to form at the Tokyo Open last month, downing some of the world's best shuttlers to set up a final showdown against world No.1 Lin Dan. After clinching the first set, and battling hard in the second, it was, however, downhill from there. Hidayat suffered a meltdown in the crucial third losing 3-21 in a collapse that left fans and Lin puzzled. "I couldn't cope with his speed in the first game but Taufik seemed to give up when I took the lead in the third," Lin said. Known for his unpredictable playing style, Hidayat, the 2005 world champion, also has a history of temper tantrums. At the last Asian Games four years ago in Busan, he held up the showpiece team final for two hours, throwing down his racket and walking off, upset over a line call. Officials and teammates had to coax him back onto court, before South Korea went on to down the Indonesians. "It took a big effort to persuade Taufik to resume the match," a team manager said later. A Hidayat storm threatened in August in South Korea, when, again annoyed by line calls, he considered quitting a match. He went one step further in Hong Kong a month later, picking up his bags in an apparent protest over the calls and walking out of his quarterfinal against Lin after only five points. Docked five world rankings as punishment, the six-time Indonesian Open champion was unrepentant weeks later, calling on the sport's governing body to modernise the game and install cameras to eliminate such controversies. "I don't want what happened at the Hong Kong Open to happen again," he said. Yet despite the angry antics and injury layoff, Hidayat, fettered as a superstar in Indonesia and married to a daughter of the chairman of the nation's sports committee, remains one of badminton's greats. And the experienced star, currently ranked 17 and the only male shuttler ever to win gold at the Olympics and world championships, stands a good chance in Doha where at least 12 of the top 20 players will do battle. His main challenges are a cavalcade of Chinese including rival and current world champion Lin whose ability to play in any style and speed makes him favourite to steal the gold crown. World silver medallist Bao Chunlai also stands in his way, although Hidayat won their last encounter in Tokyo. However, other leading Chinese players, such as world number four Chen Jin, have been benched for Doha. In a bold strategy, China has opted for younger shuttlers to fill its squad as the communist country attempts to clean sweep the seven medals on offer. Head coach Li Yongbo said he was confident his young charges, who are being groomed for the Beijing Olympics in 2008, can add to the two gold China won four years ago. "It was a big headache for us when we were choosing the squad, but our goal is to win more gold than at the last Asian Games," Li said. World number two, Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei, competing in his first Asian Games after missing Busan and Bangkok with a recurring knee injury, also threatens.
