I dont know what happen in CHN TC Team if theres no more LD and FU/CAI ... they're getting old already , I just wondering if CHN TC Team will CL- Biao /Guo, CJ - Hong/Shen - Wang Zhengming even KOR and DEN can beat them easily ... they only stand with CL & CJ (IMO )
People tend to forget that when LD and Cai/Fu retired (maybe) after Olympic end. So does lots of other players from other countries. Like LCW, Peter Gade and Dane MD 1, Lee Hyun Il and JJS. Taufik and Markis/Kido. Although China TC team will lost it strength, so does other teams. But of course with LD and Cai/Fu retired, the winner of Thomas Cup will be more unpredictable. Every countries had chance to win the trophy. But with 3 strong MS and 1 good MD2 , China team still had the best chance to win though not as superior as their TC squad now.
There will be other Young players, provided CHN have done their regeneration well. I believe they have done it. We will just wait and see.
Possible scenario INA vs CHN in Playoff stage, not in group : MS1: Simon Vs LD : 10-90 MD2: Alvent/Rian Vs CY/FHF : 25-75, CY/FHF have not encountered this pair. MS2: TH vs CL : 50-50, tricky match for INA as well as TH, if TH is able to win this, it is still visible for INA team defeating CHN MD2: Hendra/Ahsan vs CB/GZD : 60-40 MS3: Tommy/Dion vs CJ : 45-55, i still prefer Sony to be fielded in though, to be honest.
Alvent/Rian was playing well for Suryanaga in Djarum Superliga 2011. Because of them, Suryanaga becomes runner-up. They can give 1 point regardless of MD1 or MD2. But I think notional ranking, they might be MD2. Hendra/Ahsan can also contribute 1 point. I think INA can give a surprise in the group stage by stealing 2 doubles point, making it interesting. But doubtful any of the singles can win, except if one of China MS is not fit
Badminton is so pathetic. As the most prestigious team event, the first round only eliminates 1 team from each group. No prizes for getting right who are the nations, which are there just to make up the numbers and lengthen the tournament days. Why not go straight to the QF.
Agree in a way. TC & UC are different from the Olympic Games which try to encourage greater participation from as many countries as possible, however with certain quotas. This prevents the best athletes in the world from participating. Like in badminton, maximum for Singles is three although a country like China has more players in the top 16, but only 3 are allowed. In TC and UC, the weakest team in each group will find difficulty in beating some of the Asian and European countries that did not qualify. The standard is just too wide at the expense of the better countries. But since such countries have been eliminated from the preliminaries, it is no point featuring them in the finals. A restructuring of the finals based on merit, without the inclusion of the relatively weak countries seems the more logical way to go. Fans will not have to be bored with predictable one-sided outcomes. But this may also entail a restructuring of the preliminary competitions as well.
Remember the Olympics is just a team event not a individual badminton event where the best of the best all have a chance to win. Why would a country need to send anymore than 2 athletes per event never mind more than three, The whole point is for china to win a medal or Denmark not for Lin Dan or whatever, who wins it for the country is irrelavent, so still don't understand why Olympics is so highly regarded. Roll on Players becoming independants it will do so much for the sport.

Good idea ... let's get rid of the management structure so that we can make funding really easy, and make available the best resources for ALL the talented players in the country. Smart one.
Both INA Uber and Thomas team will take on JPN in today's QF, KOR & GER Thomas team once again will face-off after yesterday group-stage match.

guys its an important question? how do they arrange the order of match ?? i can see the first match is 1st Single then 1st Double then 2nd single then 2nd double then 3rd single BUT somehow i see 1st single - 2nd double - 2nd single - 1st double - 3rd single are there any agreements between the 2 countries or what? when it comes up to the knockout stage (which only need 3 winning) that would be so crucial and highly important to place who play 1st, 2nd, 3rb etc match... so anyone can give me explanation on how they arrange that ?? thx
