Actually, LYB's name isn't there. They only put countries there. They have run out of space on the Uber trophy, so it's only up to 2006. Funnily enough, the Thomas Cup trophy is only updated in 2006 too, although there is still plenty of space. Should have taken a photo of that.

I presume Tommy_bun meant he could see China on the cup for year....2010 :D the result is such predictable that they already write China on both cups :D

Indonesian Uber Cup Team Upbeat About Facing Denmark

Despite being pitted against top European side Denmark and Australia, Indonesia’s Uber Cup team is full of confidence ahead of the finals in Kuala Lumpur on May 9-16.

All England and European champion Tine Rasmussen headlines the eight-strong Danish squad at the biennial women’s team tournament, and Maria Kristin Yulianti said Rasmussen is Denmark’s primary threat.

“Undoubtedly, [Rasmussen] has great skills and lots of experience,” Maria said on Wednesday. “The rest won’t really be a big threat for us.”

Camilla Sorensen and Karina Jorgensen complete Denmark’s women’s singles roster, while Christinna Pedersen, Kamilla Rytter Juhl, Lina Frier Kristiansen, Line Kruse, Marie Roepke and Mie Schjoett-Kristensen will play doubles.

RI squad cautious despite Lee’s absence

Agnes Winarti, The Jakarta Post | Thu, 04/29/2010 11:28 AM |

Despite being in a relatively lightweight group with India and Australia, the Indonesian squad remained cautious despite news of the absence of Korean top men’s doubles player Lee Yong-dae at the Thomas Cup finals in Malaysia on May 9-16.

Lee, who is currently world no. 2 in the men’s doubles with partner Jung Jae-sung, will not be at the finals in Kuala Lumpur as he is currently focused on preparations for the Asian Games in Guangzhou.

Jung, however, will still play at the Thomas Cup.

“Lee’s absence can only be good for our team, but only to a certain extent. South Korea still have other powerful men’s doubles players,” Indonesian world no. 3 men’s doubles shuttler Markis Kido, who with partner Hendra Setiawan are long-time foes of Lee and Jung, told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

Another Korean doubles pairing, Ko Sung-hyun and Yoo Yeon-seong, won the recent Swiss Super Series, defeating world no. 1 men’s doubles Koo Kean Keat and Tan Boon Heong of Malaysia in the final. The world no.25 Koreans had even upset compatriots Lee and Jung in the second round of the Swiss tournament.

“Korea’s young shuttlers have become increasingly dangerous in recent tournaments. We have to remain alert,” men’s doubles coach Sigit Pamungkas said.

Markis added that the inclusion of former international singles player Lee Hyun-il into the South Korean team would reinforce the team’s strength.

REXY HAS SOMETHING UP HIS SLEEVES
    2010-05-01
KUALA LUMPUR (MAY 1, 2010): Rexy Mainaky was deprived of winning the 1992 Thomas Cup by a gallant Malaysian team but he is determined to get his hands on the cup this year.
The Indonesian, who has been coaching in Malaysia since 2005, has been credited with raising the nation’s doubles standards.
Players such as Koo Kient Keat-Tan Boon Heong and Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui have all reached the top rankings in the world and this has mostly been the work of the former world and Olympic champion.
Recently, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying became world junior mixed-doubles champions, Malaysia’s first ever mixed-doubles success.
Now, with the PROTON-BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals KL 2010 just nine days away, Rexy is quietly plotting a roadmap for success.
Without naming names, Rexy said he has been experimenting in training by changing the regular partners of the doubles players.
“We could spring a surprise or two in the two tournaments,” he said with a wink and a laugh.
“We have been experimenting but I won’t reveal what I have up my sleeves.”
The doubles players in the Thomas Cup team are Kien Keat, Boon Heong, Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif, Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari, Hoom Thien How, Ong Soon Hock.

Is Rexy planning to split up Fairuz/Zakry in the Thomas Cup, despite saying that they will not be splitting up earlier? I still have faith in Rexy.

Btw, Chan/Goh won the world junior mixed doubles title recently? LOL...

Injured Chetan opts out of Thomas Cup

Shrivathsa Sridhar, TNN, May 1, 2010, 01.30am IST

BANGALORE: India's Thomas Cup chances took a hit days before the premier team event in Kualalumpur with the country's top shuttler Chetan Anand opting out of the finals due to an injury.

The Hyderabad-based Anand said despite resuming training after a knee injury kept him out of the Badminton Asia Championships earlier this month, he will not rush back into action in Malaysia.

"I have started training in the past 10 days, so the injury is not too serious. However, I'm not 100 per cent fit and had to withdraw from the event," Anand told TOI from Hyderabad on Friday.

"There is inflammation in my right knee whenever I train and my doctors have observed that it could be because of playing without a break over the course of two years," he added.
