It is 4 days before the competition.

So far, I haven't seen any major promotional campaigns either by BWF or BAM for the locals.

Sure, since last week we have seen some TV adverts on the Thomas Cup, but even these advertorials did not use up the national players as models. Totally different with how China promoted the Sudirman Cup last year, parading their top team with Li Ning equipment.

Even on the streets, I haven't come across any giant banners of sorts depicting the event in the heart of the city, or even at the airport. There were some promotions on the shopping complexes (as reported by limsy and chris (ctjcad) but nothing that would capture a wider audience.

You wouldn't know there's a sporting event going on here .......

It's still quite a while until matches that 'really matter' get underway in the Thomas Cup.

As far as MAS is concerned, the team should get past the quarter-finals(against Germany ) easily.

So the only match that really matters to M'sians is in the semis(against INA or DEN ) on 14th May 2010 ( which is still ~ 2 weeks away ). The team might not get past this 'one' important match anyways. :D

The News is doing a good job in not getting people's hopes up if you ask me.;)

As for adverts, there're daily ads in the newspapers by Astro on the live covarage.

At least the Star has 2 big pages of badminton daily since 1 week before the Thomas Cup.
    NST also reports daily.

Only the radio never gives out anything...psttt

    Hehe

I think all newspapers, 星州日报 , The Star or Berita Harian also got coverage, only radio got no updates on the condition of the coaches or players at all. Harvery Norman doesn't like badminton? :(

reading all this- it seems to me that the quite empty stadium we've seen during SS finals last time held in Malaysia was not an exception. I really do hope that the Boleh fans will fill the stadium right from the beginning!
