I think both are really unnecessary during the match as well, and should warrant a yellow card. The shushing, I could understand if someone is either booing a lot (fans)/screaming all the time (player) or trying to influence judges or something like that, but that didnt happen as far as I could see, and the throat cutting gesture is just over the top under any circumstances. To top it off, it's cringy as hell, coming from a 100 pound kid that couldn't beat a goldfish in a fist fight :D
Altogether the umpires should get this kind of behaviour under control, this would never fly in Tennis, for example. And since the bwf is looking to influence the sport, this would be a better place to start rather than the scoring system or coaching rules, quite frankly.

Hard to believe that such a short guy still serves at an illegal height :D

LOL, it's like Aaron Chia is giving demonstration lessons on how NOT to serve...

I can't believe they didn't drum all these "amateur badminton habits" out of him before they let him join the MAS Thomas Cup team -- moving the arms, legs, shuttle, racquet, etc. as he is serving... must have learnt from all legal service "cheats" on the World Tour?

I was referring to other TUC matches not this last one. I wouldn't even try to defend him for whatever reasons he had. Even I have my limits.

It is refreshing to hear Steen getting so hyped up. It is a nice idea to have different commentators in each streaming court. But how to listen to both commentators at the same time? At least I can mute the less favorite one :p
