@pajrul

thank you for starting the thread.

As Sudirman Cup is a major event, it is better to have more than one thread for the entire tournament.

its my pleasure. the reason i didn't break it up.. is that lately, we don't get as much traffic as we used to back in the day (i am also guilty of being non participatory).. i thought even this one thread could be more than sufficient.. but do go ahead and break it up as needed.. i promise to try to participate

Anyone knows why France chooses to NOT field their best players in this tournament ?

I do not know the exact reason but in my head the only reason it makes sense is:
- they know they would make MAX semi finals with their best players and don't want to tire them out
- they want to give World Tour Level experience to their players that play max super 300 events
I don't know tho !

Sudirman cup offers ranking points but I am unsure of the calculation. An accountant friend told me a player could be worse off if they played in Sudirman Cup

players do not receive individual ranking points for participating.

The way to calculate the world ranking points for Team event is in the document here

The points you win is quite substantial if you are in the top ranks. Because you minimally win the average ranking points of your own if you lose a match. So, in Alex Lanier case, if he lose a match, he will get ranking points = 70671/10=7067. This is equivalent to winning a title of a World Tour 300 event. And if say, he beat Shi Yu Qi, on top of the average ranking points of his own (7067), he will get Shi Yu Qi's ranking pt divided by 100 = (99435/100) = 994. That means a total of 7067 + 994 = 8061
