I actually was expecting Victor Axelsen vs Prannoy if at all prannoy moved to that level for a rematch. But who knew that Victor would lose in opening round.

With that, my prediction for MS Final: China VS Malaysia/Singapore.

While I don't rule out LKY having an outside chance of upsetting VA, but not at this kind of scoreline, 14,21-21-9,21-6 !!!

Proof that VA is mentally not very strong, only when he's on a roll or has the upper hand does he brim with confidence to overpower the opponent. However, when the opponent can put up a stiff resistance and stay close to him long enough, he starts to waver and becomes unsure of himself, then his old habit of losing patience and even getting temperamental may just take over. That's how VA sometimes defeats himself.

The MS World Title is suddenly thrown wide open - it's anybody's guess who will wear the crown this coming Sunday, partly thanks to the pandemic.

From now onwards, watch out for the dark horses and underdogs. Expect the unexpected, more to come !

Absolutely, but still I won't assume only LKY can upset VA. Now let's see how far LKY can go or whether he or someone else is the biggest benefactor of this big gift.

Awesome lky. Hope he can make use of his speed all the way. Best chance since no momota and syq.

Need to audit va dubai bank ac. Wakaka. Kidding. ;)

Btw bookie make money when there is an upset. Just like football.

Va won all before. No money in wc. No longer motivated. No point beating lindan record. If theres big money, he will be a beast. Lol ;)

You can start counting from 2019 when he beat Lin Dan.
Let us remember also Ronald Susilo from Singapore who beat Lin Dan 2004.
That is 15 years between if someone has the hobby of Numerology..

Well.. not if Loh continues to play like that. Then they are just going to get steam-rolled by him instead :p.

I don't agree with this analysis. You just described almost everyone.
You don't think what VA accomplished since the Olympics requires mental strength? Postponing the "Olympic fatigue" this long is a rare feat.

Yeah, and LCW got his revenge the next time he faced Brice in style, so it will be interesting to see if VA can pull that off in the future.

Yes, LKY is a very intelligent player indeed - he learns from his defeats, at the same time using his speed to make up for any lack of height compared to his rather tall opponent as well as read his opponent's game well, just like how the relatively short LCW used to handle tall attacking players.

As for VA, while admittedly his stamina may not be what we would expect from a newly crowned Olympic champion cum WR1, I wouldn't ascribe his loss more to any lack of fitness or stamina but rather more to his inherent temperament when the match proceedings don't go according to his expectations vis-a-vis the perceived strength of his opponents. I mean, just look at how he inexplicably lost to Prannoy at the INA Open the other week.

So, in my opinion, I'd say it's more a case of how LKY managed to exploit VA's 'camouflaged weakness', which hadn't entirely left him despite his great showing at the Tokyo OG.
