Home made towel grip nowadays, it's getting addictive since I keep doing more and more towel grip but I only have 5 racquets. My mom is tryign to hide every towel from me :crying:
Why not try dishcloths?? Your mom definitely can't hide that from you!!! lol. Perhaps that could be a reason to not do dishwashing. Reason : Mom!! There's no dishcloths left to try the dishes!!
Do what feels best!!! In some more dryer climates. Have a different type of grip can really, effect the way u play badminton. It may even stop u from playing badminton. When it's dry here, your skins becomes soft, and for younger players, and women, they have thinner layers of skin. So when not using the right grip, blisters often occur. I would have to wipe my hands dry every rally to ensure a good dry grip. Even a bit of sweat willl cause blisters. And at times where u play everyday like on the team. Have a huge blister keep u from playing, really sucks. And blisters hurt alot too. I sometime get several of them. At times i even brought baby powder to experiment on my grip.
yea it can make a big difference and well i knwo cause i use to have a leather grip and ended up getting alot of blisters from that but then i just regripped my racquet with a Forza grip which was a synthetic grip and well its alot better do not get as many blisters and when i do all i need is some electrical tape and i just put it over the blister...its like the only thing that will stick to my skin. or if your real intense you can always grab it by the wood but i doubt that many people do that...
I just bought a super absorbant grip from my local badminton store. My normal grip aint very sweat absorbant.
A couple of years ago I made the switch to towel grips, and I haven't looked back since. There is no substitute if you sweat a lot. I buy them in 10 m (or is it 20 m?) rolls, so I can change as often as I want.
Synthetic! I've always used synthetic grips (Yonex SuperGrap). I wouldn't mind using a leather grip just to see how it feels. However, I'd never use a towel grip as I don't wan to change them that often, and I'm sure they smell. I had never thought about the vibration dampening. I have long fingers, so I need a large grip, so I have two SuperGraps over the original grip. Is that enough dampening? BTW, Aerotus, I have a Carbonex 21, and I *believe* the original grip under there is real leather. Not sure, though. BTW, this is a first post. Thanks!!
well..it's towel grips for me man...haah..more friction and comfy... i've tried synthetic...kinda slippery...but quite alrite..haha.. btw...are there leather grips?...i kinda can't find it around in my place...
if you do use a real leather grip, it would be best to put a overgrip on it, or else all the friction and sweat will damage the grip extremely fast. i use a leather grip on my tennis and badminton rackets with supergrap over top and its the best feel you can get periode. the real leather gives you the best feel and feedback from the racket and the supergrap provides tackyness and sweat absorbtion
Me synthetic grip all the way. tried last time towel grip, it's kind a slippery. One time my rackets flew away because of this towel grip, since then no towel grip. May be just couldn't get the right one. does anybody know "kimoni" synthetic grip? it's very tacky.
Towel grips require sweat to have friction. When top players sweat profusely with sweat dripping down their body and hands, towel grips are useful and synthetic grips don't work so well. But towel grips that have seen too much sweat over time become useless and need to be replaced.
Hey guys just want to share. I found synthetic grip that better than kimoni in term of longer lasting. you guys who like synthetic grip may try Prince over grip. It packed 3 grips in a box. this over grip is not as sticky as kimony but last longer than kimoni. Value for money. here I buy around us$6.
I'm kinda resurrecting dead thread here... I started with towel grip, then switched to synthetic grip. At one point synthetic grip gave me blisters, so I switched back to towel grip until now. Once I reach home after my weekly game, I store my racket in a cupboard with chemical dehumidifier (Thirsty Hippo, etc) inside. The grip doesn't smell (at least it doesn't have the yucky smell of sweat ).
