    Just like what happened to the FIFA World Cup, the original Jules Rimet trophy was stolen and replaced with the current World Cup trophy.:D :D :D

    at the beginning. i felt a bit strange during the presentation ceremony of uber cup yesterday. why there wasn't a racket on the statue of the uber cup?
    but according to the announcer of cable tv hk. both little rackets of the cups were missing in japan.:eek:
    anyone can confirm that. whether both rackets were missing in japan or missing somewhere else long ago?

    I know this is off topic but I need to correct the statement from Khwong.

    The orignal Jules Rimet Trophy was first lost in England in an exhibition before the World Cup was held in 1966 but later found by a dog (this story made news headline and the dog a households name for many years to come) which save then the host England a lot of embarassment.

    When Brazil won the World Cup for the 3rd time in 1970 (they won in 1958 and 1962 too), the rule at that time was 3-times winner will keep the World Cup trophy permanently. So the Jules Rimet was presented to Brazil and a new World Cup (the current one) has to be designed and built for the 1974 World Cup.

    The Jules Rimet Trophy did eventually get stolen in Brazil a few years later and never recovered. But ithis incident has nothing to do with the new World Cup being made. Incidentally, the rules that 3-times winner will keep the cup has since been abolished.
