michelle li is #34 of canada WS. charmaine reid is #3 canada WS. So our #1 and #2 gals didn't participate in this US open as WS. mike beres is #1 of canada MS. * as of april 17, 2008
Oh... ..that one...Well, actually i was pointing my camera and lens at her the whole time while she was warming up and playing but dare not distract her. Nope, haven't spoken to her, yet (maybe she'll be reading this thread right now). Perhaps the next time i see her, i'll just point my lens and say "Say Cheese to Badminton Central!"... Yeah, she still looked a bit jet-lagged and not in sync. Was slow in her game and never really was in her game vs. Johanna. Perhaps still tired also from all those training. Caught her yawning a couple of times during the U.S. Open, too (oops, hope she's really not reading this thread).. Okay, i'm out this time!..
I must have blanked out but who is #2 WS? The fact that Charmaine Reid is ranked #3 illustrates how slowly WS players have progressed
jody patrick, age 30. i hardly see her play much. I think she just show up to play certain tournament to maintain ranking. charmaine is 34.75 years old now, and our #3 WS
Well, I believe that Michelle Li, Joyce, and Jennifer Lam should be higher ranked then what they are, but they will move up in about a year or so. Charmein and Anna are getting old. Charmein already has like 2 or 3 kids. Interesting to see Mike Beres is actually #1 in canada over Dabeka who seems to play alot more international tourneys
That pretty much sums up the WS situation in Canada [SIGH]. Watch out for a couple of BC girls with spunk and guts: Sarah Kong and Phyllis Chan. They're still young but have great potential
oops, some minor correction due to source data wasn't sorted properly 1 anna 2. jody 3. charmaine 7. denyse J. (she will be 48 in 2 weeks) 10. phyllis 20. Jennifer L. 24. Joycelyn K 29. Michelle L
jody patrick is focusing on school from the last time that i talked to her which was almost 2 years ago havnt seen much of her since then actually to be honest even on the national tournament circuts.
I heard Michele LI arrived in Indonesia and will be training at Djarum Kudus with Nyl Yakura ( hm..not sure if I spell his name right)
You spelled his name right but you spelled the girls name wrong. Michelle Yeah, they both have great potential but Yakura even more.
Thanks for the reports, ctjcad. Next time you visit the stadium, mind asking this Lee Hock Lai whether he's studying in US now or attached to some club ?. And... of course, if he's willing, a frontal photo so we'll know what his face looks like. In the Prof Players sub-forum LHL was touted to be next rising start along with TCS, CWF when he was 18, dunno what happened aft that.
base on lhl's performance he should meet andrew in final of ms, for xd, not sure due to his partner???....
while Howard also plays MS, and quite decent at it i must say, his is more of a MD player IMHO. he will beat almost all local players but may fall short when facing international level players.
Agreed...I saw Holvy dismantle him with seemingly little effort in the Boston Open.... why didn't Holvy play his match? I'm curious to see how he matches up against the US open comeptition...
