VICTOR Hong Kong Open 2023

Jonathan Christie is definitely Indonesian Chinese . You should look at his mom. Also his girl friend is Indonesian Chinese. It’s so easy for us Indonesian to tell . Maybe he’s not pure 100% Chinese but for Indonesian he’s considered not bumiputera
Oh really? He doesn't look Chinese to me weird. Guess other S.E Asians are more prominent Chinese looking than the Indonesians maybe

I shall try to keep it short (lol), but you do deserve answers to some of your questions.

Hey, you don't understand English ? I said, if you still want to dwell on the CJ-LD case long in the past , which is irrelevant to VA's case, no comparison, not analogous (which you agreed, right ?), just forget it. And why do you have to jump in in the first place if you're not targeting LD and CHN ???
I jumped in to stress exactly this. That the cases were very different. That VA doesn't have a motive. Nice intro though.

I think there may also be a misunderstanding in the CJ-LD case. First off, I don't blame neither CJ nor LD. Not at all. I blame Li Yongbo and BWF. Second, I am totally with you that Chen Jin was strong enough to qualify. All the merits that you mention show that. His main obstacle was not injuries, but rather the rule that for three players from the same country to qualify, they must all be in top 4. A rule which I am not a fan of. He could have been ranked 5 in the world and not qualify. That would have been ridiculous.
But if injured players should be "compensated" or have shortcuts for qualifying (they shouldn't), it should be in the rules so it is the same for all players. Not only those who happen to have strong compatriots who can give them free wins.

On another note, I won't quote Wikipedia as if it's authoritative, because anybody can edit it, including yourself. I'd only go to it for the bare facts, never for allegations, accusations, speculations , or even the author's (it could be you, who knows) personal opinion, no, thank you.
I did only use Wikipedia for "bare facts", namely the fact that Chen Jin didn't secure his qualification already at All England. And if you suspect that there have been dishonest edits, you can always check the page's history and see all edits. You can also follow the references to the source article, which basically says that LD said it himself: https://web.archive.org/web/2016030.../bac-chen-jin-gets-og-ticket-as-expected/999/

(Are you sure the Olympics treats every single sport as strictly on an individual basis - then what's the country medal tally for ? What about how every nation treated, feted and rewarded their Olympic medallists upon their return home for bringing glory to the nation ? You see, I put my remarks in parenthesis as I'm reluctant to engage further with you on another topic, for you will definitely reply and we'd continue to digress more. So, if you can resist it, don't bother to reply me).
A good rule of thumb.. anywhere really: Don't bring up a topic you don't want to talk about.

And that brings closure on the off topic discussion. Further posts on the off topic discussion will be deleted.

Other than those who did, did VA mention that the court was slippery and I guess he would rather play safe and did not want to risk getting injured?

Question:
Is the mandatory minimum tournaments for top 10 players still applied to WT500 like this one?
What does the regulation exactly say regarding this matter now?
You can find the regulation here, section 2: https://extranet.bwf.sport/docs/doc...tment Regulations - 22 November 2022 V2.2.pdf

In short, "top committed players" have to participate in all Super 1000, all Super 750, at least two Super 500, and WTF if qualified. And it is top 15 in singles, and top 10 in doubles. Then there is some middle ground if you reach those rankings during the season (first week of July). Then you only have to compete in one Super 500 and all higher in the remaining calendar year. But there does not seem to be a similar rule in the opposite direction, i.e., if you drop out of top 15/10.

I have a question that is unrelated to this post of yours.

I was watching the XD Finals and found both the Chinese coaches faces very familiar. I did a quick online check on the older Chinese players but it was inconclusive - I first thought the female coach was Ge Fei but don't think it's her and after looking at a recent tournament video.
The female coach was Pan Li according to one Justfun livestreamer. Not sure who the male coach was but he does look a bit familiar to me, could have seen him before during one of the CBSL (China Badminton Super League) series.

Thanks much for your reply.

The male coach, I thought was a men's doubles player in the mid-80's. Can't remember his name, but I thought it looked a bit too young.

Also, Ratchanok had an MRI scan in Thailand after her slip. It revealed that she ruptured the tendons of her left ankle. She decided to retire from all the tournaments this year. Bad news for Thai WS as two top players got injured from the same tournament, although Chochuwong's injury doesn't seem as bad.

Thanks for the info.
It could be the reason why some players held back, hence the match results.
Court providers must do something.

In Formula 1 circus they have a meeting with drivers having their opinion heard about safety matters. Don't they have something similar in badminton world? Those mats should be tested and accepted way before the tournament

Yes, because it is their lives at stake.

will she miss the boat to Olympics then since she is not competing for the rest of the year?

Have you seen Tony Gunawan, Hendra Setiawan, Marcus/Kevin, Alan Budikusuma, Susi Susanti, Ardi Wiranata, Hermawan Susanto, Minarti Timur, Hendrawan, Lilyana Natsir, Rudy Hartono, Liem Swie King, Verawaty Fadjrin? They all look very Chinese face.
Compared with Mia Audina, Heriyanto Arbie, JC, not so chinese face i guess but it is all relative.
In Singapore there are some pure chinese blood who look like Malay too. I have some colleagues who look like malay but they are pure chinese.
Southern chinese can be similar to malay look sometimes.

They delay paying athletes' prize, then they use scabby carpets, they also make their websites like ****.

Then they said they wanted to develop badminton in the world, they brought millions of dollars to invest in Africa and South America.

I don't know what they're thinking.
