When you said you have the original VT70 was it in 3U weight is that why you found it a bit heavy and slow? Only concern in the JS12 4U does it deliver more power than BS12 3U as am little disspointed in the BS12 in this dept and don't want to lack too much if going 4U in JS12?
I can give you a brieff feedback. I was playing a yonex armortec 900 Power (older racket with head heavy and stiff spec.) What I was looking for was a less demanding and less stiff (due to pain in the elbow) racket while not losing too much power. And i have to say i got even more because i also got a much faster racket, with at least for me even more power since the armortec seemed way too stiff to bend for me. Still i did not get better just because of the racket and if i did not have had the health issues i probably would have stick to my older racket. So if you are happy with what you got, there is no need to buy a new one, if you simply like change then go for the js12 since it feels great, even so i have to admit that the most change you would probably get is by going with the js10.
Hi Visor, I was wondering if you would mind describing or explaining what these shark skin dots look like? Sounds intriguing. From what little I know of aerodynamics and flow physics, a 'teardrop' shape provides ideal drag coefficient properties. Thanks in advance!
Interesting comments, thanks for sharing. What are your thoughts on tapered shafts (and larger at which end?) or do you prefer non-tapered shafts? I wonder if Yonex might incorporate SBZ (snap back zone) into shaft designs in the future.
I prefer non tapered shafts personally. But I have never experienced anything about tapered shafts that truly make a difference in play. It's all a "your mileage may vary" thing. Some people may have a technique that fits what a tapered shaft can do for them better than a regular uniform shaft design. And no there's no need for yonex to even go down that road. Gosen has already attempted something similar but in 2 pieces with the Aermets line of rackets.
I'm not fully understanding of it but it has to do with reducing drag by controlling the flow separation of the boundary layer rather than optimizing laminar flow. Like how dimples on golf balls reduces drag and makes them travel much further. And how those bumpy things that stick out on the leading edge of car sunroofs reduces drag and wind buffeting when you open them up. Neat eh?
When you recommend JS10 is that similar to NR Zspeed where the head is small and difficult to get the sweet spot. Just concerned JS10 is fast like BS12 but not that powerful as BS12/JS12?
It is a compact frame so the sweet spot is smaller. I started playing after the bs12 was at its peak popularity, but from what I've read the bs12 is faster but less powerful than the js10. Js10 is my favorite racket for full disclosure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@vibgyor1111 Thats great to know. Do you have the JS10 in 3U/4U out of curiosity and have you compared that to Zspeed or JS12? Have you found the JS10 pretty hard to time the sweet spot to get power?
I own the 10 and 12. Never played the zspeed. 10 is faster and stiffer. 12 slightly slower and more powerful. I think both give similarvfeeling but I think the consensus is the 12 feels more solid. I play 4u rackets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't stating, that the js10 is the best racket for you, but if you are looking for something new, unique and still very good, it might be your choice. And like vibgyor already stated the smaller frame leads to a more difficult handling. That beeing said, your racket does Not determine your success on the field. I was watching Germany Vs Denmark Live yesterday evening and while there were a decent amount of js10 to be Seen, there was that danish rookie, andersen anthonson, who used some forza racket and shot rockets with every smash while still beeing super fast in defense.
I can't get over this pro related arguments. I doubt that any pro has a poor defense or a weak smash. Some pros have more power than others, but in the end every pro is more powerful and has a much better defence than all of the average badminton players here. I also doubt that a pro has a real weakness like an average joe. If not they wouldn't be at this level. Pro's choices are pretty different and related to their sponsor compared to the choices of an average player and their choice don't determine their skills. Also comparing a 3rd world Badminton nation like Germany to a powerhouse like Denmark is also not fair by the way. We have Zwiebler and had Schenk, but nothing else could come close to Denmark's finest. You are right that a racket don't makes you performing like a champ, but with relation to pros any argument becomes not helpful. Forza also is not making crappy or awful rackets to give Anthonson a special credit for using them. They have really good rackets with various stiffness with aerodynamic frames in their range. It sounded like that Forzas must be damn heavy and awful sticks, which they are not. And defense in singles is also something different compared to defence in doubles where you defense needs more variation and finesse than in singles.
Sorry ucantseeme, you seem to have got me completly wrong. but first of all the matches yesterday were very close (unless maybe the women's double) with 3:2 for Denmark, and yes thats probably because the respectiv Superstars were somewhere in Asia playing another tournament. Back to my point. All i wanted to say is "don't buy a racket used by a famous Player simply for the reason of him using it and expect to get that way closer to his skill Level." I wasn't trying to say that forza is bad, only that it is less mentioned when talking about the best racket you can get and still a good Player is able to do magnificent shots with it. The advice i wanted to give overall is: if you want to buy a new racket and you have the money for it, go for.It but don't expect wonders to happen. Like a woman who is buying a beautiful new dress, if she likes her looks in it great, but she she won't get way more phonenumbers going out with it.
Any of you have played with both JS12 and YYS rackets? based on the technical specs.... they seem to be very similar but they have big price difference. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.... Thank you
