After 2rd try playing with YYS . Smashing : More power than BS12 Defend: as good as BS 12 Stiffness: Seem to be same as Jetspeed 9 Conclusion : I injure my hand after using it , would need time to get use to this racket.
Is there a reason why this racquet's availability is so limited? Seems like a lot of the Google links lead to Singapore base websites. Did Victor not launched this racquet globally? Any BS12 users able to comment more on the YYS racquet?
I mainly use a BS12 KRP and have bought a YYS last week whilst in holiday in Thailand... Will not be back until early March so my review will have to wait until then... Can't wait to play with it!!
i will let you know what he using when i restring his rackets next week at the All Englands Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Played with the YYS today and really enjoyed it! Feels similar to my bs12krp and didn't have any issues whatsoever switching back and forth! Will play again this upcoming Saturday and try again.. . Only downside was some club player decided to be greedy and take my shuttle..... First session out and it's chipped... Such luck.
FYI: The YYS should be available to purchase in Canada. I purchased a 3UG5 version, strung it myself with Ashaway Zymax 66 Fire at 27 lbs (26 x 28.6) and played with it for a few hours. I liked the racket quite a lot actually. It's quick and noticed that i was getting too much angle on my smashes such that it ended up into the net. It definitely lacks the punch of my JJS but makes up for it in racket speed for defense and fast exchanges. I predominantly use a 3UG5 Meteor X JJS (own 6) for MS, MD and XD. It's the perfect all rounder for me (and still is as i kept wanting to come back to the racket as i was testing). After playing with the YYS, if all the strings on my JJS' broke I would use the following in this order for doubles: JS YYS > TK9000 > JS10 For singles: TK9000 > JS YYS > JS10 In summary the following is just my own opinion and based on me owning 3UG5 TK9000 & 4UG5 JS10: Racket speed (fastest to slowest): JS10 > JS YYS > MX JJS > TK 9000 Power (hardest to weakest): TK 9000 > MX JJS > JS YYS > JS 10 Stiffness (most to least): JS 10 > MX JJS > JS YYS > TK 9000 If i never played with the JJS, I think the YYS is definitely a great racket for someone looking for a racket that's straight down the middle in terms of Victor Specs. I know there's a lot of BS12 fans here, but i want everyone to know that I'm in the minority and dislike the racket in general (I prefer the LYD cause it has more punch!) Personally, I'm still eagerly anticipating the TK9900 to be available again in August/September (hopefully) as i really want to try this racket out. Hope this helps everyone here, since I'm not good with racket reviews and prefer posting about stringing instead
Interesting that you feel the YYS has more power than the JS10...hm! I find that my both my JS10 (4U), BS-12(3U) has more power over YYS (4U). YYS is very fast racquet and excellent when the BIRD is below the head. Anything above the head is weak for me (clear and smash), maybe need to find a head heavy 3U to test.
I didn't measure head weight of mine, but the racket with original grip, no plastic wrap and no string weighed 88.3g and had a BP of 296.8mm. It's possible that i just didn't adjust my stroke well enough to harness the JS10.
I'll concur with DarthHowie's observations on power havng owned all the same rackets and more. The 3U JS10 however straight up out powers the YYS in 3U and that beats out the 3U BS12.
I would've liked to have tried the 3U JS 10s because i'm pretty sure my opinions would change from the power stand point, but i'm unwilling to spend that much money to order overseas for something i may or may not like (3U commercial or KRP/HKP/MYP - whatever flavour).
