Hmmm... now you got my interest. paulstewart64 and Mark A , how would it compare in the same size to 9100, in terms of cushioning, comfort, support, etc, and especially forefoot space which is very important for flat feet like mine. We already know it's lighter.
I would say cushioning is similar to LYD which I think is better than 9100. They are so comfortable having worn them all weekend without an issue and that's 14 hours on court. Forefoot space is slightly wider. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Did not you convulsively concluded that yonex with power cushion is better ? Or I read it wrong somewhere .
Convulsively... lol... But yes, the power cushion in the SC series from my experience with a few pairs is noticeably more cushioning than the Victors I've tried at the store. Only problem is that these Yonex shoes tear prematurely at the lunge foot outer edge and also break down prematurely at the dragging foot inside edge. And we're talking about only 3-4 months of 4h per week play.
Interesting to see how LYD and YYS still playing with their beloved BS12 rackets and wearing SH8500 shoes, despite newer models available. Are the 8500 that good that they don't want to change?
Then all these new models are in trouble... In what ways are they good? Cushioning, support, durability, etc?
For me I'd rate it as their classic all round shoe very stable. Good cushion. It actually keeps your feet relatively parallel with the ground when standing unlike the 9100s and the LYD where there's an angle that has your body weight leaning forward slightly. Durable shoe too. The only reason my yellow ones have torn a bit on the outside side above the talon guard piece is because they're half a size too big so the material shears more at the area of movement of the feet. But otherwise they are perfectly functional and the soles wear out real slowly. My white pair which I've had more recently but used for the same amount of game time in total are the right size have fared even better tbh. One could say I'm biased with victor shoes or victor in general since I've been using them since 2009 starting with the SH8100 for shoes (which I bought in 2010 and are still alive but the soles have started to split a bit already). But I've never been found wanting other brands of shoes ever since. They've never broken for me ever. I would liken the 8500 model to being what the SHB87 and 86 are for Yonex. Solid, stable, good cushion, and durable all rounded shoes.
I had the SH 8500 in the past as baddy shoe and use it now when I go to training because the cushion is worn out. IMO the A850 is slightly better and more comfy due the ventilation and the A820 is a great and stable shoe. Much more stable than any shoe I ever used.
Hmmm, my wide feet didn't fare well with the lateral support system of the A850... so I'll probably not do well with the more solid lateral claw of the 8500... even though it's highly rated...
Just had a solid look at the Victor shoe catalogue. This shoe's last is V-shaped rated for narrow feet, vs U-shaped rated for normal feet of the 9100. So with my wide feet, I'm not going to risk buying these online... will need to test it out at the brick and mortar store when they become available... probably by the end of the year...
If you have damn wide feet you should go for SH 8500 or 8600. IMO much wider than A850 or A820 Width 8500>=8600>>850>820
8500 fits all feet type really well IMO. I have a bit slim feet but I have never felt as though the 8500 was too big either.
I agree. The toe box is really roomy, but you will never slide in the shoes when you tie them not loose.
It's amazing how many players are wearing this now: TW players, some HK and INA players, and almost all MAS team players.
Are these SDs just reskins of the standard S80s? http://www.victorsport.com/product_detail_19663.html Anyone got/tried a pair yet?
