Victor launched New string, VBS series.

One of the newly released Victor strings is VBS-68P. This string's main target is Yonex BG80, one of the best selling badminton strings in history.

Both strings are using a material called 'Vectran', which is also used in Space ships.... 100times stronger than steel? According to the rumor, Victor has scouted Vectran developer. :) No confirm, just rumors.

Will VBS68P take some of BG80 markets? I guess it depends on the price if the quality is almost same.

Why in the world is this soft feeling if it's supposed to go against 80?

I think this is meant to take on Yonex BG80P not BG80. If you look at the outer braided layer of the string, it is clearly identical to BG80P - which is a softer string. BG80 has a thicker/coarser braiding.

I agree but still 80p is no slouch either. This aiming to be soft doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Maybe they can't make it hard enough. I know Ashaway are launching 68TX. Whilst the coating is similar to BG80, the core is nowhere near hard enough. I enquired why and was told Ashaway cannot make the string core hard.

TBH I don't need a similar product, when I'm happy with the original. Only an advantage or improvement would make me turn away. I normally give a f*** about the description and try. And if the core isn't hard enough this string will find fans. I loved the VS850 and VS800. Not as hard as BG80, but nice feel and decent performance. Don't get scared away from any labels. Wait until it is out and get your hands on.

I'm not gonna dismiss this straight away, BG80 has nice grip, but I'm too wimpy to use it at high tensions.

Someone should ask me love affair with BG80 .. after trying in hybrid combo with 1 at 27*29, I thought I could handle it alone at that tension . So wrong was I - one day game and I was out of action for 1 week .. haven't touched the BG80 after that but have tried to play around strings who claim to be have similar nature so this .. why not ? Let's try atleast .

Yeah, BG80 on its own is really hard. How did you find the hybrid?

One word .. awesome and my favourite combination so far .. I guess , the No.1 has to be credited for super repulsion it provided and allowed me to snap power more effectively. Now trying out the combo of No.1 and Gosen GT5 . :D
