Victor VE-50

A minor upgrade but well worth it for quality of life and keeping the basement clean.
Amazon link (3 inch wheel diameter): https://www.amazon.ca/Locking-Capacity-Threaded-Hardwood-Workbench/dp/B089S2ZMKT/?th=1
Will update after long term use for durability.

Thankfully the manual said that the base uses M8 threads. It's very hard to find M8 3 inch castors with brakes and high weight tolerance.

I also discovered that you could transfer the base stand feet and install it under the table top as there are extra threaded holes pre-drilled underneath. This means in theory that you could detach the table top from the stand and place it on a table for stringing. However as a consequence, you would no longer be able to use the drawers.

The 5 tooth universal clamp on the VE-50pro will not fit on the top most cross of most Astrox Pro level rackets. The only solution at the moment is a fly clamp.

Whether the clamp fits in general to your machine, you'd have to measure the dimensions of your base clamp.

** based on the pics of the VM-2000s the base clamp is completely different from those on the 7032 Pro and VE-50pro. You'd have to order both the clamp bases and the clamps. Probably not worth the upgrade. You should look at the 3rd party clamps like these:
Just make sure you measure and get the correct post diameter. If the clamp length is longer, it shouldn't be a problem but may be an issue if it's too short (may not disengage your base clamp if there is gravity release)
Hi hi its me again, fixed the clearance issues. Now the string start to slip more (66 ultimax).
These are the solutions that i tried:
1. Clean the clamp before stringing with rubbing alcohol, it works most of the time.
2. Greased the locking mechanism according to manual.
Also i found some probable fixes (need tips or advice)
1. Diamond gripper plate from tennis warehouse (cheapest fix), will this work for the vm-2000s original clamp ?
2. Purchasing 1 pair of the mentioned clamp(quite pricey) that suits the base diameter.
Thank you for the tips & have a lovely week.

Maybe it's never been tried but I've done some research and digging and determined (with high confidence) that ExThree is the OEM of the Victor machines since their machines uniquely use the ratcheted fixed clamps (Head machines use the OEM and clamps)

Is it possible to use the 4 tooth badminton-only fixed clamps from the C-7032 Ultra on the VE-50Pro?
@SIM YUN KIAT - is it possible for you to provide measurements of the diameter of the hole in the shaft as well as the length of the clamp?

At the same time, i'll try my luck and email Exthree directly if it's possible. At the moment I've been told that the 4 tooth clamps are machined to a different size from the 5 tooth universal fixed clamp (different length and/or diameter??).

FYI: photo is taken directly from Exthree TW site: Top - BE-4702 (badminton only), Bottom - TE-3200 (tennis and badminton)

Update: Crickets from ExThree - via email and via FB messenger. My communication was in English though.

You might have some luck soon as it looks like the new Yonex Precision 5.2 and Gosen 25EX (both EXTHREE made machine) now comes with two separate set of badminton (4-tool) and tennis clamps. If the precision 5.2 uses the same diameter clamps as the VE50, you might be able to order the replacement badminton clamps through Yonex

I already have a special order for the clamps used in the C-7032 with Victor. It's in transit somewhere over the ocean =)
Thanks for the heads up though!

Nice!

I had a chance to use the C-7032 ultra recently and know of at least 3 individuals who got them in the last 6 months - hopefully that means parts for them will be readily available.

Would be curious to see what thickness the marks on the dial corresponds to for the victor machine. I think the yonex ones follow the exthree markings you posted earlier but I didn’t see any documentation for the C-7032 ultra clamps in the manual for it.

Originally I never had an issues with clamps without any markings or click points and wasn’t a deal breaker for me but recently my friend picked up a Redson Master 5 and he said one of the biggest selling point was the precise settings for the dials on the clamps (base setting of 0.66mm and each click is 0.02mm). I was happy to see that is now a feature on the newer EXTHREE machines

The button to unlock / loosen the clamps were a bit annoying at first coming from an older C-7032 but I see how that would prevent the clamps from loosening

The clamps for C-7032 Ultra are a bit taller than VE-50 Pro clamps, but still compatible. VE-50 Pro had upgrated to the new clamp and clamp base set after some point afaik.

My C-7032 Ultra clamps will be arriving later this week, i'll post comparison photos and weights between them and the VE-50 pro clamps as well as the allpha clamps i purchased on aliexpress. I was warned that clamps would be lighter and may not trigger the gravity release base unlock. For the majority of us badminton stringers this feature is seldom used as we unlock the base FIRST before release the clamps.

**EDIT**.. not enuf coffee.. had the clamp and base clamp release order incorrect!

Don't you mean we unlock the base before release the clamps?

Asking a bit much but wish they could be as light as the Yonex ones, those ones make me feel like I'm dragging the base with me when clamping lol.

I am doing it wrong? I always use the gravity release for the clamp base.

My process has always been to clamp the strings first, than lock the base.

To unlock I release the string clamp and let the clamp drop down to release the base.

You're right! I did not have enough morning coffee yet.. I'll edit my post!

I sometimes do that on other clamps where the action so smooth, it just makes it seem faster but I doubt it actually translates to time saving by waiting for the clamp to drop and unlock then move it to the next string to clamp and lock. Its more of an good feeling for me.

But I think the logic behind unlocking the base first is because as you tension the next string the tensioner is tugging on the string so if you unlock the clamp first but the base is still locked the string for that split second as the teeth are letting go, this could damage / scratch the string.

While when you unlock the base first you can see the clamp move towards the tension so it settles before you unclamp and the clamp kinda just falls on its own without being stuck/snagged. I usually get stuck with this closer to the single pass corners when trying to do the gravity release when I release the clamp first, the clamp catches the string and won't drop, but once I unlock the base it drops.

hmm i don't experience that myself - at least on my machines, as soon as release the clamps, the strings stay straight / horizontal as it is under tension and the clamps just open up and drop out of the way

I don't always let it drop - I sometimes push it down to unlock and than move it to the next string and lock the string clamp in one motion. Similar to how Mark Lawrence does it in the Yonex stringing video. - the way he does it is so fast and smooth but maybe because it is a Yonex machine.

Almost all other stringers I know do it the same way as me where they unlock the string first than base - I will try it the other way next time I do a racket and see how it feels.

I saw the opposite in many youtube video. The stringer usually release the base first and then the clamp.

When I began learning how to string, there were times where I released the clamp first but it stayed on the string (due to some play here and there so the clamp/base/string are not perfectly align). In that case, forcing the clamp down would potentially damage the string. It would be safer to release the base first so the clamp freely align to the string.

I don't think it makes any method would be faster or slower, just different and to my eye safer for the string

He indeed release clamp first

Ah... Maybe that is why... because i learned to string before YouTube was a thing lol

I do however, make sure my clamps are aligned when clamping... and I don't expect them to move / rotate when I unclamp. So far all my recent machines have been pretty good about that. Trying to remember how I did it on my old Mutual Power machine, which didn't have a gravity release and used manual release but that was a long time ago.

Going to tag @kakinami and see what he says - maybe this would make for a good poll but it would also be machine-dependent as well.

I think there is a reason for calling them gravity release clamps. That being said they are not perfect. In a perfect world they would just drop. If your rails are dirty, or clamp shafts have some dirt that creates friction, and the clamps do not fall perfectly. Just out of normal practice, I myself as an amateur stringer compared to masters like Mark and Tim, I find it easier to release cam first and then clamp, to me I feel like if there is any slack somewhere, say string movement when releasing the clamp, even though so minimal I do not put any stress on the string. If I release the cam first, the clamp moves with the string, ever so minimal and I do not put any damage on the string. That is my thought process.

Gravity release clamps are ment to release from the dripping of the clamp, meaning clamp first and then cam. I just find it easier to go cam first then clamp. To each its own. I am sure the clamp first then cam run into trouble when the clamp doesn't drop =)
