well, one got to be smart and deduce something sometime

chen jin wasn't delaying time, was he?

at that point even if taufik didn't say it was chen jin who manipulated the shuttle to the umpire

i am very sure the first though that came to the umpire's mind would be "really shuttle has been tampered?"

if you look at the video you can see both of them did stroke on the feather and that is as good as tampering.

The umpire was most likely just saying something to show to Taufik that he has everything under a watchful eye since he complained. It does not prove anything that what he was saying was "He stop tampering with the shutle"
More likely scenario is that he was saying 'he just becareful with the shuttle" giving some assurance to Taufik so the match proceeds normally.

Come on. guys. Talks are cheap, especially without enough evidence to back you up. Or I dare to say, in this case, no any valid evidence whats so ever. We are not arguing in term of who can spend more time to post here. We have work to do. I am done with this thread until further evidence is brought up (video clips or detailed logical reasoning). Than you all.

this is a forum and we are all here to discuss

    because we love badminton

and this is not a court of law.

    if we agree, we agree

if we can't we can agree to disagree

if we make a mistake we apologize.

    its that simple

He did it in the second game. Iwas there and i saw it !!!!! I promise on my life !!!!

IF TV viewer didn't saw it i think it's because it was during a replay i think. Honestly i didn't see the match again since there.
I promise i will see the second game to let you know.

But from what i saw live in the stadium was this:
    - In the first game i saw Chen jin turning back and manipulated the shuttle. Don't know what he did with it.
    - Taufik complained with the umpire but he didn't listen to him. If i recall good it was the umpire to say something to taufik because he was taking time by looking to the shuttle. and Taufik responded something about the shuttles.
    - After That taufik complained again in the second game and go to the judge line to take a shuttle to show the umpire. The umpire looks a bit confused. He even look to the line judge who looked confused to. I didn't not understand what they were saying.
    - after that i looked at Chen jin and the umpire between each point. From that point Chen jin gave back the shuttle without manipulating it like i saw him doing in the first game. And the umpire was fixing Chen jin between each point until he saw chen jim making something on the shuttle (not like he did in the first game. It looks like he did like all the other player do ).
    - When the umpire saw that he called Chen jin and took a look at the shuttle. He said something to Chen Jin. Then chen jin made a smile to the umpire saying no with the finger. and from that point Taufik did not complaine anymore.

I swear that it's what i saw on sunday.

And to those who will say that i'm a taufik fan i will respond that NO. I'm very happy that chen jin won the title because i always love his way of playing and style. My top 3 is Lin Dan, Chen Jin and Peter Gade. I think that he deserves the victory after the 3 place on OG , the second place on WC2009.

This thing disapointed me a little bit even if he was the better on court and really impressed me.

I don't know if he did something or not to the shuttle. It can be only a psycological game against taufik because taufik complains only against Chen jin and nobody else complain about Chen Jin from what i know.

But i think that it's not fair even if he played only a psychological game. He did'nt need that to win. But i'am shurely too much utopian... :)

Thank you Bbn, Resourceful as ever.

If I may request, could you get another scene... a few points later when the Umpire calls Chen Jin to his side. I remember you can clearly hear the umpire say something to the effect 'you must not tamper with the shuttle'.

    Regards

    No its not audible.

But this better the 2009 WC semis when the bad blood started.

Here you see CJ openly fiddling with the shuttle that so annoyed his opponent. All these videos don't prove a thing ,so make your own judgments.

    Hi Cheung,

Assuming your theory is correct. That CJ was playing mind tricks with Taufik. And not actually tampering with the shuttle. Let us explore this further.

Chen Jin from the 1st 7 points already shows how much more prepared and in form for the Final he seems to be compared to Taufik.

Throughout the match he is very much leading.

If things are going so good why would he go further and plant these seeds?

Everyone will want to win a match controversy free if possible. So that the 'Milk does not get tainted' so to speak.

Now you are saying that CJ whilst leading chose to play Taufik a fool and pretend to manipulate the shuttle. According to your theory, Taufik takes the bait and proceeds to make a scene... thus CJ made Taufik make himself look as a poor sportman.

The problem here lies that if this is true... the plan went TOO WELL. His victory is now covered in controversy and he pretended (as you say it is) to manipulate the shuttle so well that even court bystanders believe that CJ is manipulating the shuttle.

So with your theory... the Milk is not tainted, but Chen Jin Tainted the Image of the Milk in everyones' mind.

    You reap what you sow.

I don't think anyone would want to do that.

Hey sports like duels are mind games, you never reveal your frustrations or unhappiness to your opponents,

once you do that the body language tells the opponent how to deal with you.

T is famous eg. in TC 2002 giving up after a dispute against Bao and later in TC 2004 or 6? giving up after he wasn't happy with a LD serve. That is exposing some weakness for people to exploit.

That would coincide with 9-4 in the 2nd game.

People who speak up often get branded and labeled what they are not by others who spread fear tactics.

No need to apologize to anyone for sharing your observation.

    Cheers

    thanks kming

for your swearing in bc court of badminton (just joking)

but now what to do with your testimony?

    i really don't know how.

chris came with the video showing taufik mentioned to the umpire it was the shuttle flight he was complaining.

maybe chen jin did played a psychological game, hiding the shuttle to distract taufik

while taufik only complaint of the funny flight

    and umpire warn chen jin

    and chen jin smile

    whaoh!

    somebody continue...

I don't know about you guys, but I like to flat the feather before each point - does this consider as "manipulated the shuttle"?

Well if we based on the spectator's testimony and analysis by Chris,to me

one thing is for sure, CJ did not win by cheating, although he appeared

to have done sth with the shuttle at one point, whatever that is.

    fair comment i would say

or maybe the only appropriate comment

chen jin in-form that day and he doesn't need anything extraordinary

to beat taufik who was drained totally after playing lcw and psh

though chen jin may still have some bad habits that die hard

like stroking the feathers hoping 'the bird would listen to him' lol

do you still do that when you play, bbn?

Of course ! Everytime I hold the shuttle because its my money and I want to make the shuttle last!

Maybe CJ comes from a poor province where they have to make do with bad shuttles and he can't kick the habit.
