Just got a pair of Yonex SHB 101 MX from a local dealer for $80 since his store is closing soon. Wore them last night & my feet are pretty sore, but I know after a couple of sessions of breaking in the shoes, these will be fine. My movement was like the equivelant of gliding through heaven minus the feet pain :D

Just got pair of SHB 85's..Tried them on and walked around with them and they do feel very comfortable..I have used Asics Rocket gel and Karakal XS 300 in the past.Let's see how these compare..I do like the color combination though.

Dingboy, I have finally tried the Mizuno Wave Smash Wide today after I have bought it for 3 months.

Here's what I did. I wore SHB-101MX for 2 games and then switched to Wave Smash for the remaining 5 games.
Once I put it on, I could immediately feel that its sole is thicker than SHB101. It has a better cushioning and the hole at the back heel does give a bouncy feel upon impact from landing.

Weight: Wave Smash>SHB101MX (Wave Smash is a tad heavier)
Width: Wave Smash>SHB101MX (If you have wide feet, go for Wave Smash)
Cushion: Wave Smash>SHB101MX (Wave Smash has a thicker and softer sole)

I am pretty impressed with it. Until I found something even better, this will be my primary shoes for now while SHB101 and SHB85LTD will be my backup shoes.

Hi there bro Barca ! ...... thanks for the review! :D

I'll be going to Japan for a company trip come January 2011, hopefully i can sneak away for some 'shopping' time and check out the 'Made in Japan' version of the Mizuno Wave Smash Wide, to see what justifies the (almost) x 2 pricetag.

Although, even if they're much better made than the 'Made in China' ones ..... the huge price difference between the two makes the "M-I-C' version much more appealing. :p

Let me satisfy my curiousity first .... i'll keep you updated. :D

I can't say much about the SHB101MX since I've switched to Mizuno for the last .. longer than I care to recall. My previous shoe is the '06 Wave Smash SG which lasted over 2 years. It generally still works except the rubber sole has lost some of its traction. I switched to the '10 wave smash wide back in Oct (or Sep).

Wide is a bit heavier than the SG but it's 4e and has quite a bit more cushion. Both shoes are very very stable and the venting system actually works very well. Wide also rides a bit higher than the SG, probably due to the extra cushion.

What struck me is how the Wide is really designed for badminton movement. Mizuno wrapped the gum sole slightly up the inside front of the foot where players tend to drag the trailing feet (see photo). This prevents the sole from separating from the shoe. They also added extra piece of leather on top of that to protect the top material from rubbing through. Very thoughtful. So far, all my Mizunos (I only had 4 pairs) lasted over 2 years each. None tore up so their construction are all very good.

Yet, the wide is, to date, the most functional shoes I've seen and definitely built for the recreational player (because we do not have sponsors to change shoe every other tournament).

Thanks Dingboy. Btw, what concerns me when buying shoes online is the size. Im currently wearing SHB100Ltd size 27.0 and Wave Gate 3 size 26.5. So will this measurement apply the same for Wave Smash Wide? Any advise will be appreciated. Thxs.
