I know everyone probably wants to keep their secrets and all to themselves, but if we all talk and read about each others weaknesses, then that'll make ues all better badminton players right? Personally I want to know about all the weaknesses a person can possibly have, so that when i play a complete stranger, than I am able to figure out, expose, and pick on their weakspots.

To start things off, my weakness is that I always want to smash everything, so I lose stamina pretty easily and the quality of my shots like my drops and clears, become complete set ups.

HEY come on don't be shy boys and girls!!!

    Fitness

I have a all around good shots arsenal but the speed of play of faster fitter players often exposes where my fitness level truely needs to be.As a result I tend to sometimes hit shots that are more defensive and that allow me to catch up when behind in a rally.Fitness is the one thing that I need the most to play with the big boys. All other things being equal I hold my own.

My weakness? I am too short and small, according to American standard.

My weakspots? Left side of my left knee had injury. Right shoulder and back sustained injury six months ago. Got a face plant 6 years ago on one bicycle commuting night. Ran over a raccoon and ended up 5 meters away from my bicycle (multiple spots). Yeah, the spots are very soft now. But, I wear clothing so you can't see them. My face? The nurse said I did a good job on my emergency patchup so there is no visible scar. :D

I just read Kwun's "Insensible posting." Sorry. I just came back from 3 hrs of badminton game so I was in high spirit.

    Seriously, here is my weaknesses.

I cannot do a backhand clear to the back court. My net game is suck. When the shuttlecock needs footwork to catch up with it, I tend to jump toward it, that costs me accuracy and power in that shot. My stamina was suck, but I am improving all the time (I was 10th in junior high mini marathon, ancient history). My clear that response to smashing is too low and near the net, so a good opponent can easily kill it after a few smashings (it got closer and closer to net). But, if the opponent let off the pressure a bit, I can clear it high.

My consolation to the shortcomings is that I am improving everyday, which makes it fun to play badminton.

My recovery after playing a backcourt shot...Just too slow to move forward after clearing/smashing/dropping...Perhaps my poor abdominal and back muscles are contributing to this :(

Too many - backhand, too many careless mistakes, having difficulties moving backwards, unable to return smashes at my body or right arm, ... that's why I'm still a D player.

    Where to start?!

Footwork in the game (its ok in training)
    Speed in general.
    Placement of shots.

Speed to get behind the shuttleonce forced the lift from the net.
speed (and footwork) to get right to the net after smash block.

    Backhand

Allround stroke play (but mainly dropshots-I dont have the confidence to hit good, fast drops in the game)

Pretty much everything apart from fitness (OK) and netshots (OK too)

Why don't try using round the head shots to go baseline to baseline on the backhand side ? That will help a lot. If you look at the top level game today, there is very little backhand. :D

True in doubles; but in singles, the overhead backhand is still an essential stroke.

    My weaknesses:

    1) I'm fat
    2) I'm fat
    3) I'm fat

Seriously though... it all boils down to that. I can't ever get into position to hit a good shot. Being fat also prevents me from lunging to my full possibility. My friends tell me I'm the most energetic person they know, but I can't go on for long rallies. I get random spurts of energy, but when I'm energetic I'm a nutcase. I think I'm the equivalent of a 3 year old crack baby on a sugar high, or at least I act like one. :D

I also can't hit backhand clears very well, especially if the shuttle is behind me. Netshot sucks. Clears suck. Drops suck. Smashes suck. Basically everything sucks, so I guess being fat isn't too bad. I'm like... Z- Player. :crying:

Sometimes I tend to be lazy and do the minimum footwork necessary to return a shot, instead of getting into the correct position to hit the shot.
I also seem to struggle to change my grip to the backhand grip at times.
