where's Indonesia Open in Jakarta? Senayan?
Based on previous editions, as usual INA SS 2010 will be held at Istora GBK Senayan, Jakarta.
is the date already confirmed? or could there be any changes?
actually INA SS had ever held at Surabaya before
better in another place... boring.. always jakarta
Since INA Open turned to INA Super Series in 2007, the tourney always take place in the capital city. Last time INA Open held in Surabaya was 2006.
absolutely agree...another city please!!
the player will boring too
I agree with you.... why PBSI didnt give another city a chance? maybe no sponsor? Im bored if it is held ini Jakarta, Senayan-Sultan
Indonesia has no other decent stadium for now... In the past, our Indonesian Open was held in Jakarta Tennis Indoor Stadium [2004, I saw Taufik vs. Lin Dan there], Batam, Surabaya , either Semarang/Solo [I forgot], and... mmm, if I'm not mistaken... also Kalimantan [somewhere]... But frankly, none of those other stadiums were better than Istora.
Vision 2020: for a better version of Istora, I propose we just destroy the MPR-DPR building in Senayan [move it elsewhere when INA decides to move the capital away from Jakarta] and replace it with a cool modern stadium comparable to all other cool stadium on Earth at that time... Oh, and move the capital from Jakarta to a city in the center of our INA archipelago, closer to the less developed Eastern side of INA. I, personally, support Makassar as INA's new capital.
Jakarta will still always be a big economic center of INA... however, it does not have to be the political center forever... Example: Sao Paulo is the economic capital of Brazil, but the political capital was moved to Brasilia. NY-LA-Chicago are big economic centers of the USA, but not the political capital [which was moved to Washington D.C. many years ago]. Shanghai is the economic center of the China, Beijing the cultural center, but there is a possibility of China choosing Xian as their political capital [yet again]. Note: Xian was the capital of China during the Qin dynasty, Han dynasty, Tang dynasty, and many other dynasties of the past... and Xian is closer to the less developed Central and Western regions of China...
I always support Ina SS to be held in Jakarta (as I stay in Jakarta )....I think if It's held in Jakarta there will be more crowds than to be held in other city
- Here are the other cities, besides Jakarta, which had hosted the tourney:
Samarinda (1990; Kalimantan), Bandung (1991; Java), Semarang (1992; Java), Yogyakarta (1994; Java), Surakarta (1997; Java), Denpasar (1999; Bali), Surabaya (2002; Java), Batam (2003; next to Sumatra, south of S'pore) .
If it won't be the capital of INA, at least they could hold the INA Open in Makassar.
- Off topic: Was it moved to Washington D.C.? I thought it's been the political capital ever since the U.S. was founded (never really had an official one until 1791)?
The answer is yes as mentioned in 2010 BWF Calendar through this link -- http://www.internationalbadminton.org/tournamentcalendar_event.aspx?id=2327&calendarid=73
I really don't think you have to worry about the local crowds. Wherever you host the tournaments, they will come.
Better in Senayan, so I can support INA players live Anyway, INA will have INA GP Gold, rite? So, INA GP GOld should be held in other city such as Palembang, Surabaya, or Batam
According to 2010 BWF Calendar, INA GP Gold will be held in East Kalimantan province (Balikpapan or Samarinda), 12-17 October 2010
i hope someday indonesia open super series will be held in bali...
(seems almost impossible. because bali didnt have international standart area)
Indonesian badminton fans should be proud of their venues.
When watching by computer in cold distant Canada, the noise and energy of the crowds in Istoria stadium make the games so exciting that I begin to think that I am there. It is the best entertainment on the Net, IMHO.
Of course the spectators would be just as great at another stadium. If the PBSI has trouble making up it's mind on location, they could always outsource the Indonesia Open SS to Canada. We'd take it!!)
Agree. Istora is still the best!
I watch it live every years since 2007. You should come and feel it.
It's very amazing.
Some day.....some day.
