Will Gao Ling win both MD & WD???

Gao Ling is an established double player. However, I don't think she will be able to capture both gold this time.
 
I hope she does, not many players are cheerful and smile all the time like her, so I hope she wins... But than, if her XD gets stretched to 3 sets again than it might not happen....
 
I have yet to see the Midas touch from Gao Ling in WC. Hope she'll win both title. Let's make history Gao Ling!

1 Gold tomorrow is enough to equal Park Joo Bong records. But another gold is an added bonus. :D

Meanwhile, next year in Beijing Olympic, she will try to renew her own record.

If I am not wrong, she stand first in total gold Olympic badminton with 2 Gold , 1 silver and 1 bronze.

And she can add another 2 gold in her resume next year.

World Championship Gao won both WD and mix in 2001. In 2003, she won WD and as runner up in mix.

In All England, she won both WD and mix in 2001, 2003 and 2006. In 2005, she won WD and as runner up in mix.

Olympic 2004, she won gold in mix and as runner up in WD.

So she play very well in major events considering the results.
 
Another interesting fact is Wei Yi Li. She reached 3 WD World Championship final with 3 different partner and never had a gold.

2001 with Zhang Jie Wen, 2003 with Zhao Ting Ting and 2006 with Zhang Ya Wen. All end up as runner up. How sad for her.

Yes, she win mix in All England this year, but she was only playing one final and not two. Gao/Huang lost to ZYW/WYL in Semi final.

The results above were from when Gao Ling had to play two numbers in a big tournaments Final.

I hope you don't mean she's not an established mixed player? She's done more and won more in one year in mixed than most players do a lifetime. :)
 
GL and Bo shud b able to win their XD match. The fact that Bo is a strong partner will help. No denying that S Huang is a good dbls player but in the GL/SH partnership the snr partner is GL, moreover Yang and Jiewen r playing well this tournament and have early advantage.

Saying all this GL is been around for a while and as hcpoirot has pointed this superwoman will not miss a chance to take 2 well deserved titles...
 
I think Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen will want to have a say on the final. Yesterday's semis was between the two CHN pairs was a prime example of retrieving and attacking at its best, eventually the veteran pair got the edge at the last.

It'll be good if YW/ZJ win this one, from a position of not competing together to another World Title, how romantic would that be? Not to say GL/HS don't have a chance, but they weren't really on top form, twice forced to play rubber by the ENG and JAP pairs.
 
I hope that YW/ZJW will win the WD in order to show to LYB they are still one of the best WD in the world :D If YW & ZJW have won the WD title, maybe they will not be separated?? haha... Hovever, if GL can win both titles, of course i want to congrats her :D Really hope that YW is still with ZJW in the future and even in next year's Olympics :D
