Who says playing professional badminton doesn't pay, even in a so-called third world country?

BTW, one of our famous academics in Singapore has recently said that China is as capitalist as any other in the West. So communist is not a dirty word as once thought to be.

china is not generally classified as third world.

And the UK has more of its funding and economy from government sources than china. No politics of course here though, so keep to LD & XXF

Sorry if you think it so. I thought we are talking in economics terms.

I think XXF may retire and be a full-time housewife and start a family before her biological clock starts ticking away. After all, LD is making enough money, which is expected to reach 30 million yuan this year alone.

Capitalist vs communist is not economics? I'm going to ask my economics professor for a refund many years overdue.
So what's the key difference between economics and politics?

Capitalism and communism have more to do with economics than politics, the former is based on private ownership and the latter public ownership. The big debate between the two presidential candidates in the US is pure politics, nothing economics at all although they may dwell into the national economy. The party that runs China is a communist party in name only which they inherited from Mao Zedong, which really doesn't mean anything now, but its economic policies are pure capitalism. Visit China and you will see for yourself. In contrast, North Korea has an economic system that is pure communism. Visit North Korea and you will see the difference between China and North Korea, which is the difference between capitalism and communism economic models.

There is no such thing as "enough" as Liu Xiang is fading away lefting the top 1 athelete model seat empty at least for 1 year or 2. Yao Ming is good however not much interests by manufacturors as he's already been seen everywhere in China. LD is one of the atheletes on the top of list to take place of LX, IMO.:D

    Yes, you guys are great.

THE BIG ANSWER IS ZHAO TING TING! SURPRISE!!!!!

As for capitalism and socialism talk, why don't you come to China and see for yourself. Instead some of BCers have just been to Beijing for this Olympics and you may look at their threads and pics. ;) I believe lots of newspapers put on article about China in Singapore also since we are neighbours.

I did not say capitalism & Communisim wasn't economics. I said it was political.

And this also has political content. Please do not post political content at all(especially in a thread about LD & XXF relationship:confused:)

I frankly feel that Loh's above remarks to my earlier post re how much LD is earning and LD/XXF's expensive Beijing upmarket flat is not out of place to merit an unnecessary warning. These two posts must be read as being related and not in isalation. It truthfully says that big money can be made in China despite it being misunderstood as a communism economy. I think Loh's statement is an eye-opener which is news worthy.
Maybe, we need a moderators' jury verdict on this? Just a wild idea.

LD and XXF are fine. They showed up together many times after the Olympics. LD has been crazy about XXF since 15. They'll have a happy ending.

You have reignited a century long debate on economics and politics. In fact, I just wrote a paper on it :D:D:D

It depends on what idealogy you see it from. From a Marxist perspective, economics and politics are inextricably bound up together. You can't have economics without politics, vice versa.

From a liberal's point of view, there is the market (economics) and there is the government (politics). They are two separate things (separation of market and state).

From a Leftist's point of view, the government (politics) regulates the market( economics). They are two different things, but are still bound up together.

I think that China has allocated several 'capitalist' zones, one of them being Beijing.

Still, nothing wrong with being communist. We are all just brainwashed by the Western influence and media.:cool::cool:

I can see lots of semi communist (marxist) nations around the world. Australia, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Britain have huge elements of socialism (communism) in their governments.

That is what I thought. The title of this thread implies otherwise. Perhaps the starter of this thread may want to "put things in proper order" now?
