World Championship 2007 Draws

Also interesting is the fact that Howard Bach will be participating with Bob Malaythong while Tony is pairing with Candra. If Howard and Bob can keep up, they'll meet Tony and Candra in the quarters!
Well. The chances for bob/Howard to advance into QF is lessthan 20%:D:D

Bin Shen-Soon Hock now seeded 15th

SUBANG: Malaysia’s Tan Bin Shen-Ong Soon Hock have been given a new seeding – 15th – for the World Championships after Badminton World Federation (BWF) rectified a mistake yesterday.

The BWF had named Denmark’s Mathias Boe-Joachim Fischer Nielsen as the 14th seeds although the Danes had not been entered for the world meet.
After dismissing the slip-up as an administration error, Indonesians Joko Riyadi-Hendra A Gunawan have been seeded 14th while Bin Shen-Soon Hock moved up one rung. Japan’s Shuichi Sakamoto-Ikeda Shintaro are now seeded 16th. BWF also announced that China’s Du Jing-Yu Yang are the fourth seeds in the women’s doubles and not Zhao Tingting-Yu Yang.

LCW agrees with you that it is a good draw for him ....

Dream final for Chong Wei
By RAJES PAUL

SUBANG: A dream final between national No 1 Lee Chong Wei with either Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat or China's Lin Dan is on the cards in the World Championships, which will be held at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil from Aug 13-19.
The player most feared by many - Taufik - is not in the same half of the draw as second seed Chong Wei.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) released the results of the draw today.
Top seed Lin Dan is expected to face off with Olympic champion Taufik in the quarter-finals. The winner of that match is expected to play China's fourth seed Bao Chunlai in the semi-finals.
"What can I say; the draw does look very favourable for me. Lin Dan, Taufik and even Bao are not in my half of the draw and that is good news for me," said a delighted Chong Wei.
"But I do not want to assume that reaching the final will be easier. I will not underestimate anyone," he said.
Chong Wei, who gets a first round bye, is expected to take on Indonesian Sony Dwi Kuncoro in the third round.
If he advances, Denmark's Peter Gade-Christensen is expected to await him at the quarter-finals.

It seems perfect scenario for LCW. LD-TH encounter must happen once again in KL after their 1st round duel last January 2007. During 7 months, hmm finally on paper we will see the giant showdown like this!

Maria Kristin will meet Zhang Ning in the Round of 16....
Firda will meet Xu Huawen in the Round of 32...

..Tony and Candra win the WC title, it'll be a trifecta for them, as they would have won all the top "prestigious" individual titles *together*;):)..cross fingers!:p;)
Gold Medalist 2000 Sydney Olympic (with Candra Wijaya)
Gold Medalist 1999 All England (with Candra Wijaya)

Yes, that's exactly what I'm hoping for, because that is the one title that has eluded them as a pair. Tony's won it with Halim and Howard, Candra's won it with Sigit, but the pair of Tony/Candra has claimed every other title but that. If they could win this title, it'd be a great way to end one of the greatest partnerships in the sport's history, and would also put them on par with the likes of Kim/Ha and Ricky/Rexy as a pair that has won the 3 most prestigious tournaments.

Both pairs have played with each other many times during practice. However Candra and Tony will still have the upperhand.

Really? I never knew that Candra trained with the U.S. team aside from sparring with Tony. But it'd still be nice to see them play each other in the quarters though.

Then again, that's what 85% of the BC community said back in 2005 when Tony/Howard were to face Jens Erikson/Martin Lungaard, Alven/Luluk and of course, Candra/Sigit in the World Championships 2005, and we all remember what happened then! My point simply being, it's a sport, anything can happen, upsets are a part of the game and underdogs have a way of proving their critics wrong.

Off topic-I think what..

..ants meant is that Candra and Tony had sparred against Bob & Howard before..and probably even now, as we're typing, in preparation for the WC..I doubt Candra has ever trained/sparred exclusively with the U.S. team..:p;)

Chandra plays for Japanese League and INA League.. Wonder how he can got time to fly to US for sparring with BOB/Howard..?
Or the "Sparring" session is being held somewhere in either JKT or Tokyo:confused:

From the past record. Bob/Howard never achieve any upsets in ASIA:cool:

Oops..TH wil meet LD in Quarterfinal..who wil prevail???I hope is TH...;)
Good Luck LCW!!I hope u can defeat all the players n be the champion!!;)

Yes, its a good draw for LCW....but it only looks easy.... he still have to play Sony,...and CY..who have a good record againts LCW....then Peter Gade...who beat LCW in Thomas Cup 2006...still not looks comfortable....needs a lot of hard works...hope LCW will prevail...

No draw is easy...this is the best scenario for LCW being home court advantage, local fans support, current good condition and playing well, rank high, good draw...I am sure LD would trade TH for Simon, Sony, PG, BCL anytime...LOL!;)

Yes, Chong Wei has an excellent draw and I am going all the way out to pick him to win the title.
