2010 BWF World Championships Day 7 - Finals (Sunday, Aug-29)

    Out of 10 places at the Finals, CHN players have 8. The other 2 places going to;

    * Taufik Hidayat (INA) in Mens Singles, and
    * Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong (MAS) in Mens Doubles.

Is it possible for China to scoop up all 5 Gold medals?

Here we go, here we go!!..

What an almost surreal World Championships this has been, to say the least..

First, we found out the actual stadium itself doesn't even have an air-conditioning system. And this is supposed to be a World Class event..
Second, we found out the official players hotel also encountered their own air-conditioning system problem..
Third, an unfortunate news broke out after one of the Ponsana siblings and a few other players reported their belongings being stolen from their hotel room..
Fourth, the much anticipated match up between LD and LCW failed to materialize. Who knew..
..i wish if there is a fifth..

Anyway, my take for tomorrow's/today's Finals:

    - Good luck to Taufik and KKK & TBH!
    - I wouldn't be surprised if the CHN squad brings out their magical broom once again to sweep all the medals..

kwun, or you could've simply wrote: CHN to sweep all titles..
*if going simply by h2h record, then technically there wouldn't be any selection for the XD and WS events??..:p

i am just going by historical record.

    KKK/TBH hasn't beaten FHF/CY since march 2009.

Taufik hasn't beaten CJ since 2007! (though their last encounter was WC2009 in which CJ won in 2 straight set). i don't think CJ has gotten much better but nor has Taufik!

..btw, for the CJ vs. TH match, i wouldn't be surprised if CJ and his coaches apply the same strategy as last yr against Taufik. And that is to lift and send all the shuttles deep to the back court and make TH work by using his energy from there. None of that close to the net game which i feel Taufik will force to employ. If i recall, in last yr's WC, TH totally nearly gave up in the 2nd game.

lets see, anyway - Taufik improved a lot, hard work pays off;), good for badminton:cool:. Beside that he is the only hope to get a title to Jakarta this year - he also can make history;). Which player else is able or will be able to get the WC title 6 years after winning olympic gold? :confused:Amazing - suddendly all the SS events do not count anymore - so he will give it all he can:cool:. Can anyone imagine LD playing till 2014 - impossible!(don't believe he will prove me wrong - if he does he's gonna replace Taufik as the badminton hero, but we need to wait until 2014:D:D ? Ha - folks, lets watch the match and enjoy it, hopefully ending with the result the badminton world (except the CN fans) is waiting for.

I'll go for support Taufik Hidayat to get his 2nd WC title, and KKK/TBH for first MAS WC title ever.

    - I'm just looking at Taufik's record against CHN's top players in the last several yrs and everything is looking against him. However, this will be his first opponent from CHN in this WC and if Taufik can finally break the egg (an 0-13 h2h egg vs. CHN players in the last 3+ yrs) and beat CJ, i'd tip my hat to him.
    - And once again, for the millionth time, i'd mention again, i'm not a CHN fan..

..in your opinion, or if you're Taufik's coach, what strategy should TH employ to beat CJ and finally win his first major title in several yrs??..;)

it's difficult to say, Chen is a very good all round player, and doesn't really have a huge weakness, If I was Taufik, I would try and get to the net quickly, and when lifting try and keep the lifts quite flat, to put pressure on CJ, and make him late on the shuttle. Also Chen doesn't mind long rallies due to his fitness and stamina, so if I was Taufik finishing the rally as early as he can would be ideal, but Taufik has to be patient, Chen will probably try to frustrate him, with long rallies.

As you can see I wouldn't make a very good coach !:)
