Why Xue Song has not done better is a bit of a mystery to me.
Hoping he's overcome his injury.
He is named in japan open!
Xue Song's first tournament, JPN Open SS, coming back from his injury, not sure how match fit he is. The following week he's enrolled for the KOR Open SS playing from the qualifications rounds in the same group with teammate Shi Yuqi, not a good draw.
But at least good he is back so fast! Frankly i didn't expect him to be back for a year.
The injury seemed more serious.... hope they aren't rushing him back.
Seems that Xue Song is too anxious to make a comeback. He's injured again, ankle this time , during his match with Sourabh Varma yesterday at the Bitburger Open. Didn't seem too serious as he conceded the match and hobbled his way off court after receiving some medical attention.
I can understand and empathize with his anxiety and eagerness to resume active competition as he probably felt at age 22 he's not getting any younger, and being the only child he would want to be self-reliant and not live off his parents as well as contribute to the family as soon as possible.
I earnestly hoped he doesn't end up like Simon Santoso, a very talented player whose career is unfortunately stymied by repeated injuries.
Not sure if he'll be well enough to play in the CHN Open Premier a little less than two weeks from now. Wish him all the best.
Haven't heard much of Xue Song except that he is still working hard. Here is some interesting background information.
He is from Zhejiang where his father still resides. He actually came to HK to train for a number of years whilst still a teenager. Then he was accepted into Guangdong province team. Perhaps somebody can confirm if he will represent Guangdong in the All China games this year.
By all accounts, he was a hard worker. He would write notes about his training afterwards.
Really missing this talented youngster on court.
Just last year I was tipping him to be part of the new generation along with Momota, Axelsen and Ng Ka Long.
Alas Momota is gone and Xue Song has been overtaken by compatriot Shi Yuqi.
Looking forward to his comeback soon!
IMHO Xue Song would make a good coach. I hope the CBA would appoint him to train the juniors. He has been through a lot and was on the verge of being amongst the best players. He appears to have a good personalty and would bond well with the youngsters.
I hope he can comeback soon, if Sayaka Sato can come back probably Xue Song can also.
Sign of things to come
Could a kind soul give an English summary of what he had to say?
Hopefully he will be back in playing shape soon. Such a promising player. (And such good taste in t-shirts )
Thank you for this. The juniors Gao Zz , Gu Junfeng and some of the others would benefit greatly if he took them under his wing. He was an average player very defensive with occasional strong smashes but suddenly his speed and attacking game improved and he managed to beat some top ten players before getting injured. How did he change from a typical Chinese junior to an exciting player ? He can pass his training methods to them. He has quite a bit of international experience so he is used to travel . The CBA should take him on their coaching team. His experience is invaluable.
Xue Song didn't say anything about himself, it's just an instructional video demonstrating how to strengthen the leg muscles by leaning against the wall straight up with the back and buttocks touching the wall and legs bent and apart, then hold that position for two minutes or so, after that doing likewise on one leg on the floor only before switching to the other.
How we wish to see Xue Song come back. Keep hoping.
November 2018: Is he gone for good?
