To be fair An Se Young is putting up a good fight mentally, probably because she is young and doesn't have anything to lose. There isn't any pressure on her to win, unlike Japan.

ASY is just being ASY the default fighting and is only delaying the inevitable tbh. But she is crumbling now.

She could have mixed up some smashes in these long rallies. CYF did it first and it paid off.

That is a turned ankle for ASY. Hope she can continue. No one wants to win like this.

Is something wrong with these courts? I have seen too many slip ups like this.

Must be a deliberate tactic. An’s natural pace is faster

Can someone tell me why ASY isn't smashing at all? Is she wary of the return of CYF?

ASY looks ok. Won a long long rally to get to 16-18.

I think it is because CYF has been dictating the pace and rally most of the time. ASY is not in perfect balance a lot, and to smash in singles when not in good balance is asking for trouble to be countered. Also CYF's defense is so good, she forces ASY to go for the lines and can force errors that way.

After such performances,It seems MD is the only discipline where China may not be favourites in this Olympics but who knows. All other disciplines , including WD, where the new screaming queen and JYF seems equally threatening .

Well there are many many times she could land a smash easily but still didn't. Maybe she was thinking of conserving some energy. Idk. Now she smashed.

CYF takes the match 21-19 second set.

    CYF controlled the pace well.
