Hi all, I have recently bought a Yonex PT8 Deluxe stringing machine. It only has the squash/tennis clamps. Can anyone advise me of best solutions for getting two badminton clamps? They are female of course and not many brands use that type of construction. I tried similar clamps from the Dunlop 3.0 machine, but just a tiny bit too tight in the Yonex base assembly. Looks like there are others available from China, Taiwan etc that LOOK similar, but I need to know for sure before I buy any, which ones actually will fit. The best way is to find stringers who are using them and who can point me in the right direction. VERY happy to purchase any used ones from someone who has spares. I can order from Yonex but I am told its very pricey, plus a wait of around 4 months to arrive. Hoping to hear from someone who has been in the same position, Liam Lincoln, UK Technical Director & Founder UK Racket Stringers Association
Doubtful you can find any used ones. Best to order, maybe like 250usd each but you will be very happy with the quality of the clamps. I will be on the lookout now to see if I can find any used ones in Japan! Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk
You will not find any other clamp which will fit. You have to buy Yonex clamps (new or used) OR you can have a shaft lathed and put other clamp heads on it. I think you bought this one? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286175377393 I have used ones for the PT8DX if you want. Just message me.
That Yonex featured is what I am SELLING, so I will see if I can get two spare Dunlop 3.0 female clamps bored out to match PT8 size. Local engineer shops nearby. Pity no spare used clamps at affordable price, Liam
I would try to have new sleeves made by a metalworker instead of having them modified. Otherwise, in the worst case scenario, you will end up with clamps that you can no longer use. Normally the upper parts of the clamps are just screwed on and glued with threadlocker. I also suspect that simply drilling them out will be too imprecise. You have to carefully lathe off the material on the inside.
