No, he really hasn't. Yes, he has won a game against LD, a three game match in 2015. And he's won two against LCW and one against CL. However, these last three wins came in the second half of this year, meaning he has a combined 1-6 against the big three prior to this summer, when his "habit" really began, while Kento has 0-6. Not much of a difference there. While I believe that CL just has a temporary spell of poor form from which he'll hopefully recover, LCW simply gets old. I don't think he'll ever be #1 again. This is not to discredit the achievement of Prannoy in any way, I just wanted wanted to point out that the big three are not as unbeatable as they used to be. Consequently I can't understand this absolute position of "Momota (or any other player, really) can't win a SS tournament". We just had LHI in the final of a SSP. Two unseeded Indonesian Youngsters contested the final of Korea, Kazumasa Sakai made it to a SSP final, the semi final of Singapur consisted of Praneeth (later winner), Ginting, Lee Dong-keun and Kidambi, all unseeded. Of course these aren't regular occurances, but they CAN happen these days. Huh? Over confident? I even said that I'd consider CL and KS favourites against him and never said he would win if he was here. I simply don't agree that he has no chance at all, like you suggested. Anyway, on to the players that are actually physically present. Does anyone know when Sun Yu will be back from injury? I would have loved to see the game against CYF, such an interesting contrast in style and surely more even now, than in their previous meetings. Juhl/Pedersen vs Huang Yaquiong/Yu Xiaohan would have been nice as well. Damn injuries. Oops, those are again players that aren't present. Sorry.

it's interesting as well that the qualifiers are mostly from european countries, or in better words more number of europeans qualifies than asians which is something you don't see often nowadays even in european tourneys especially SS level. or maybe i'm just being presumptious

Master, the tournamentsoftware link a few posts above goes to flypower international challenge or something not French open.
Thanks, It's corrected now. That's another tournament in this week : USM Flypower Indonesia International Challenge 2017. The Indonesian junior players from last week World Junior Championship also playing there, they play for 3rd consecutive weeks. The participating countries are Thailand, Malaysia, India, Singapore, Japan, Chinese Taipei, USA and Italy 2017 French SS Teaser 2017 French SS Archive Channel • Badminton V • Stamp Badminton
Pass, might be yes, but it will not go comfortably as Nishimoto is really good at playing rallies and we known LCW when playing long rallies.
I think it might has something to do with French Open as the tournaments are being played on European turf, so lots of European player can join the tournament. I don't see a lot of them in MAS/INA/SGP/IND open.
Unpredictability of MS is what make MS exciting in a boring gameplay. LCW LD CL is the great past. The future is VA SK KM. But dont think these three is as great as the past three. So yeah, there is chances for everybody.
Bro, Friend, Fellow ...Prannoy defeated the worst ever Lin Dan who will never be remember for his 2015. And Prannoy made a mountain out of a molehill by taking three full distance games coming from behind at the deciding moment in the decider to beat this Lin Dan who carried a little paunch back then. 2016 Lin Dan wasn't defeated even by the likes of Srikanth Kidambi. 2017 Lin Dan has drawn fancy comparison with 2014 ASIAN Games Lin Dan, so i don't think it's of any meaning to bring Lin Dan in Prannoy's Hunting feats. Leave Lin Dan by giving him the benefit of doubt and assume even accept that Prannoy has never beaten a True Lin Dan. However, leaving this trivial conclusion aside I fully agree with you that Chen Long and Lee Chong Wei along with Jorgensen O Jan have been no match for H S Prannoy - The Pride of South and North Indians.
lee hyun il will have a tough match due to short rest after denmark and a tough opponent in hs prannoy. i think it will be close, either way.
I am looking forward for BSP vs Khosit Phetpradab and Andres Antonsen vs HYX Back level 13-13 HSP can't make errors
